Inspiration: ColourQ #212
The starting point of this card was the Ghost Town dies from Tim Holtz. I pulled out my Distress Oxide sprays in Shaded Lilac and Wilted Violet to create a night sky and I splattered Liquid Stardust on it to make stars. I alsi ink-blended some Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot Distress Oxide ink to darken the top of the sky, I drew a lightning bolt with my brush using the Liquid Stardust (and later added white gouache to try and create a highlight on it). The houses were die-cut out of Black Foil paper, and the smoke out of Fog cardstock from Lawn Fawn. The Wonky Scalloped Frame was die-cut out of Kiwi Kiss cardstock and inked with Black Soot Distress Oxide ink. I added star sequins in the sky and a moon sticker from an Halloween sheet (last year's Bewitched from Echo Park).
For the card base, I die-cut a piece of Abandoned patterned paper from Tim Holtz, which I embossed with the Stylish Scroll embossing folder and ink blended the edges with Black Soot ink as well. I used a black envelope and the same die-cuts to make a set.
That's where I was and I was about to put the card aside and call it done, even though it didn't feel entirely finished to me, but I just didn't know where to go from there. Then as I was about to walk away, I remembered that I found some Tim Holtz items on clearance recently, including some metal Word Bands. I pulled them out and when I spotted "Encourage your hopes, not your fears", I decided it would make a cool pair with the existing card. I used my Carved Pumpkin Distress crayon to fill in the words, wiped the excess off and used some grey and black baker's twine to tie the metal sentiment in place on the card.
