Inspiration: Inspired By #87
This card was done on a total whim. The initial ideas came really quickly, so I started putting everything together and once I had the embossed wood panel, the polka heart backdrop, the branch, the owls and the sentiment strip, I got a little hung up. The card was cute but a little boring.
I started trying out embellishments and die-cuts on the sentiment strip, but all attempts failed miserably at making the card better. Then, suddenly, I thought about adding a second ribbon next to the Lovely Lipstick one I already had in place and the weaving effect at the bottom with the sentiment strip instantly made the design more interesting. I then recycled the white die-cut heart I had cut earlier and that also made the card better. I added an enamel heart and it looked even cuter.
A few details:
- The sentiment was embossed in grey powder.
- The wood-embossed panel was initially inked with Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide ink, but it was not popping up enough, so I took my Craft Whisper White ink pad out and dragged it along the woodgrain pattern to add a whitewash effect. I love how it looks on the Grey Granite cardstock.
- The envelope was stamped in VersaMark using the graduation cap image from the Simply Celebrate Spring stamp set and embossed with clear powder, on a Lagoon Metallic envelope.
