Inspiration: Simon Says Stamp Wednesday (Anything Goes) + Global Design Project #200
After I was done with my Picnic in the Park card, I was left with three rub-ons from my Bo Bunny pack: a lemonade pitcher and two lemons. I knew I could make something small and cute with it. I was thinking of doing a tag or a bookmark, but then I remembered a sentiment from an old The Cat's Pajamas stamp set that talked about finding someone who had vodka when life handed you lemons, so I went looking for it and the project turned into a card.
The full sentiment, when you combine the two stamps, reads "Whrn life gives you lemon make lemonade / and try to meet somebody whose life has give vodka and have a party." To me, it was just too long and I only wanted the vodka part. I was lucky enough that I was able to omit the parts I didn't want using a black marker and my stamping tool so that I could stamp a few times to get a darker, even image. (Sadly, markers do not work as well on photopolymer as they do on red rubber.) I remembered that I had a polka dot dry embossed cardstock leftover from a kit somewhere on my desk, so I recycled that for the main panel, and I added my rub-ons at the bottom and around the sentiment. I wanted baker's twine at the bottom, but didn't want to cover the pitcher image, so I used a handheld punch to add holes on each side - and this is where I messed up because I went as far as the punch would go and ended up leaving two marks at the bottom of my paper from where the metal part had gone in. I was a little upset with myself and couldn't do this again since I was working with a leftover piece of embossed paper and rub-ons, and that's when I had the idea of using narrow washi tape on each side of the panel to hide the marks. And what do you know, the card looks even prettier with the washi! (Look at me, turning lemons into lemonade...)
I added yellow sequins here and there and embossed a green metallic envelope with yellow powder to finish the set. I think it turned out so cute, especially for a project that was made using leftovers!
