Inspiration: Sunday Stamps #209 + Sketch Saturday #573
This year, Stampin' Up! added something new in the annual catalogue: a single item number to order a full suite. Usually with a suite, there's always an item or two that's not to my liking, but I fell in love big time with their new Noble Peacock suite and wanted everything it included. This is the first project I'm making with my new products. I wanted to use the Saturday Sketch and place the peacock vertically on a portrait card. I quickly realized when I pulled the stamps out that the main peacock image is big! I stuck with my original idea and figured I'd just cut a piece of the tail off at the bottom of the card afterwards, but once I had finished my peacock, I liked it too much to cut it off and decided to have him hanging off the sides. I think it looks really pretty, but that will mean I will have to be creative with the envelope when I send this card out.
I stamped the peacock in Pretty Peacock ink and added the detailing using Gorgeous Grape ink. I then pulled out the Woven Thread sequin assortment and added tiny sequins on the tail. I used a blending pen and Old Olive ink to fill in the body and face with Old Olive ink. It was a last minute idea and I was working on regular Whisper White cardstock, so I had to use a very light touch to avoid having the cardstock pill. I also added Gorgeous Grape ink to the top of its head.
I used the Stitched Nested Labels on Gorgeous Grape cardstock and embossed it with the embossing folder from the suite. I decided I liked the debossed pattern better and since the dies add stitching to both sides, I decided to inlay my cardstock in the foil Specialty paper, so I ran the die a second time. This is where I turned a mistake into lemonade: I initially picked the wrong size when I die-cut the Specialty paper (a size too small), so I ran it again with the correct size and ended up with a pretty frame that I decided I'd recycle on something else. Then it dawned on me that it would look really pretty added on top of what I already had, so I glued it place. It adds additional stitching and dimension. I then tied a piece of ribbon from the same suite as well, and I used the smallest of the stitched dies to add my sentiment, which reads You did it!
