Encre, papier, ciseaux: Sailing in the Sun

Inspiration: Mojo Monday #514 + Color Throwdown #540

I haven't used the Swirly Bird bundle in ages and I thought it would be nicely suited to the sketch and color combo I wanted to play with. I had initially planned on using just a little piece of the wave die-cut and cut out the bottom so that it followed the circle. When I placed the die-cut on the card to see where I wanted to fit the waves on the image, I decided I loved having the waves extend beyond the image - it made the card a whole lot more dynamic. I didn't want the waves to all end at the same place and in a straight line, though, so I used my scissors to snips some parts shorter and rounding out the edges.

Since the Swirly Bird set does not come with any sentiment, I picked amongst my other set and found "I'm swimming in happiness in the Jar of Love stamp set. The sentiment comes in two parts, so I stamped each one, making sure to bend the stamp as best as I could to try and follow the rounded edge of the circle.

Clear Wink of Stella was applied to the wave and to the sun. The background was stamped with the speckles image and then embossed with the Subtle 3D embossing folder (still a favorite to this day). I added two white sequins to the side panels and when I spotted the little star sequins, I knew it would look awesome to have one placed in the center of the main sail.
