Inspiration: Just Add Ink #454 + CAS(E) This Sketch #319
The diagonal sketch inspired me waterline and I decided to pull out the Fun in the Sun stamp set to have my lady gently floating away in the water. The color challenge then inspired me to have the top part be a beach. I pulled out my Distress Oxide inks and went to town creating mottled cardstock. I kept layering yellows and soft browns for the beach and couldn't get it just right, so I pulled out my spritzer tool and two brown markers (Soft Suede and Crumb Cake) to add speckles and make it look more like sand.
I then worked on the water panel. I knew I was going to tear the edge to get an uneven edge and have the exposed white core look like seafoam. I made sure I was done with the inking before tearing the paper. I had placed the girl image on the cardstock before tearing it, but the tearing exposed way more white than I was expecting so the girl looked a little bit too close to the water's edge, but then I noticed I had a big piece of blue cardstock leftover from tearing the top off and by layering it over the torn piece, I was getting a wave detail and was able to make my blue piece longer, which balanced out the design.
I stamped and colored my images and handcut them since I don't have the dies. Finding a sentiment for my card and the placement for it was the part that actually took the longest! I found "hi sunshine" in the Dahlia Turnabout stamp set and the size, font and wording was perfect so I started playing around with the word stamps and the stamped beach embellishments to find something that I liked. After much fidgeting, I fnally settled on this placement and I stamped the words in VersaMark and I pourred Dirty Sand Baked Texture embossing powder, which is perfect because it does look just like sand. Before adhering my images in place, I die-cut the beach panel with the Outside In Stitched Rectangle Stackables dies from Lawn Fawn to add stitching, which helped the card feel more finished. Even after adding the images, the top still felt bare, so I pulled out Marigold gems to sprinkle around the words. I added quite a few but since the card didn't have that many elements, I think I can get away with it.
