Inspiration: Just Add Ink #442 + Hand Stamped Sentiments #307 + Simon Says Stamp Monday (Love is in the Air)
I recently had this idea pop into my head to pull out the Laboratory dies from Tim Holtz that came out last Fall and use them for a Valentine project. I figured I could have little hearts coming out of the beaker rather than bubbles and use red or pink glimmer paper for the liquid. And come up with a French sentiment about perfect chemistry or something.
So I was crafting today and found the paper where I had jotted this idea down. (I have to take notes when inspiration strikes or otherwise, the idea will be lost as quickly as it came to me.) Because I had grabbed the Tote Bag die earlier today and not used it, it was lying around and I decided it would be a great base die for this idea. I wanted a red patterned paper and didn't have to look long before I found this beautiful Bo Bunny paper (purchased long ago - it's called Wild Berry Chevron from their Double Dot Designs). I was playing around with the dies, arranging a few beakers on the shelf, but it seemed a little bland to me, and then I spotted the Just Add Ink sketch and thought I'd use it on a 3D project! So I applied gold glitter paste through a stencil, and then I worked on the circle image. I didn't like having the beaker in the center of the circle without grounding it so I went back to the shelf die and shortened it by cutting out the center and gluing the two ends together. The beaker was cut out of vellum, the liquid out of red glimmer paper and I added Sweet & Tart Heart Sprinkles for my escaping bubbles. I was very pleased with the result and with how quickly I had finished this project - and then I realized I hadn't added the sentiment about chemistry anywhere. I was a little conflicted because there wasn't any room to add it gracefully, but I still very much wanted it there, so I went to my computer, designed a sentiment in Word that says "Our chemistry is perfect" and printed it on Very Vanilla cardstock. Initially, I was thinking of making it a little bigger and die-cutting it around it with a stitched oval or fancy die and embellishing the back of the tote with it. As it turns out, I found out after printing it to test out how it looked that it fit the inside of the handle per-fect-ly. How's that for serendipity?! Because it was going to be showing on the inside of the bag, I had to find a way to cut the sentiment out evenly, so I thought to grab the Stitched Domes Die-namics to glue it in place. I LOVE how that detail turned out!

What a delightful project! I love that this is a 3D piece because I can see the details and thoughtfulness that went into each side and angle! The patterns that you combined look stunning and I thought it was so clever of you to go with a chemistry theme. The bottle is amazing and I'm so glad you took the time to share your talents with us for this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!
