Inspiration: Sweet Sugar Pea #52 + Mojo Monday #505
I'm so happy with how this cute card turned out, and how I was able to use the Home for the Holidays die for a non-Christmas card. The second I saw the inspiration picture from Sweey Sugar Pea, I had this very clear idea of how I could use the Tim Holtz dies to make a retro car and tie a heart on top of it with baker's twine. Because I wanted to make the car aqua, I also knew which patterned papers I wanted to pull out: the More Amore Specialty Designer Series Paper. This paper collection came out years ago (I'm thinking over 6 years ago since I have made scrapbook pages with it when my niece was born) but it's still a personal favorite. I keep pulling it out every year and loving every project I'm making with it. It's those soft colours and patterns, they're just yummy.
For the sentiment, I looked through various stamp options, but I came back to the set I had in mind when I started creating the card. I stamped the words "Love Ya" in VersaMark and embossed them with Pool Party embossing powder. I used Core'dinations cardstock and made sure to and made sure to sand the cardstock before adding my sentiment on it. It made a huge difference - the color was too stark and plain before, and when I added the sanding, the cardstock matched the papers better and took on a nice texture.
Another idea I had from the start was to have little hearts come out of the exhaust pipe. I was thinking I would die-cut small hearts, but then I realized I had heart sequins in Strawberry Slush, from when we had In Color assorted sequins. They were the perfect size and color. I added one on the sentiment strip, with a metal-rimmed pearl as well to fill in the space a bit and to create a visual triangle as well.
A matching envelope was made out of Core'dinations cardstock and the Envelope Punch Board. I could have used some of the patterned papers, but I'm down to a few pieces and I was not willing to use a full sheet yet, as I would like to get a few more creations out of this pretty paper.
