Inspiration: Freshly Made #373 + TGIF #197
This card is very simple compared to my usual more intricate designs, but it's nice to throw a clean and simple design in there sometimes. I played with embossing folders: Subtle for the white background, and Pinewood Planks, Seaside and Ruffled for the stripes. The English sentiment "Just Breathe" was translated in French to something like "Time for a pause." It goes nicely with the beach chair, which I accented with a white gel pen but the polka dots turned pink because the Berry Burst ink is so pigmented.
That color combo just screams of summertime. It was a good occasion to break out the Pineapple Punch, which I find hard to use because it is so bright. Reminds me of past colour Yo Yo Yellow, which was also obnoxiously loud.
The main image was a little blank so I wanted to doodle a border and I decided to use a calligraphy tip to do so. On a side note, I've always been drawn to calligraphy since I was a teenager and I keep going back to it, but I don't have the patience to put in the required practice time. (Doing the same thing over and over again is a struggle - explains why I never do chain production either when crafting.) Despite that, I've kept adding calligraphy tools to my craft arsenal over the years and because I only have two ink bottles (one of which is supposed to be gold, but it really just look brown and murky on the page, no matter how well I shake the bottle beforehand), I have recently discovered that I can use my watercolor paints to write with. My initial discovery was with the Cosmic Shimmer watercolor paints. I diluted the paint in the pan and I used an Aqua Painter brush to load the calligraphy tip. If you dilute the paint well enough, you get a really nice and steady flow when writing with the calligraphy tool. Here, for my doodled border (and my signature on the back of the card), I used the Gansai Tambi Starry Colors watercolors (Blue Gold) and I was able to doodle a very thin and very shiny border.
