Inspiration: Inspired By #32 + TGIF challenge #172
I initially passed over the Inspired By challenge because I wasn't feeling like doing a ice cream cone card, but I ended up coming back to it later after putting some order in my stamp sets and spotting The Scoop. The little characters in this stamp set always make me smile, and I decided I wanted to ink one of them again before the summer was over, so the set became the starting point for the card. I had some summer-themed papers in mind but when I went looking for them, I stumbled unto the Sweet Summer collection from Doodlebug and changed gears. I thought the bright colours would work well and finding the ice cream and frozen treats paper sealed the deal.
I quickly landed on the TGIF sketch for the design, but the idea on how to use it kept evolving. I first planned on adding the guy and little dog in a circle, but because I had a patterned paper with music on it, I thought the ice cream truck would go well with it. I thought I could do a circle showing part of the ice cream truck, then decided, what the heck, let's do the whole truck and turn the angle of the sketch into a road. That's where the fidgeting part started because even though I placed my pieces on my card to check height, I still ended up placing the road too high and in order for the wheels to be on the road, the truck had to be placed at a really steep angle, which looked weird. So I die-cut a second road border and placed it below (there are two sides to a road anyway, right?) to rectify. Instead of adding a banner like on the sketch, I also decided to capitalize on the fact that clear stamps can be bent and follow the curve of the road to add my sentiment. I picked something in a cute font from another set (Various Vases, from the Stampin' Up! 2018-2019 annual catalogue) and embossed it in yellow for a fun pop of colour. (Was undecided between pink, yellow and white for a while there, but I'm happy with the yellow!) My favorite part is the little music notes added around the truck, which were die-cut with the Little Music Notes dies from Lawn Fawn's latest release.
