Elegant New Year Wishes

Inspiration: Just Add Ink #421

The Joyous Noel suite is one of the most elegant in the catalogue and even though the samples are already eye-catching, I think the items from this suite are even more striking in person. Every single sheet of the Joyous Noel Specialty Designer Series Paper is gorgeous. And embellished with copper accents, which are scrumptious next to the Sahara Sand, Tranquil Tide and Merry Merlot.

I paired it with an adorable stamp set called Feathers & Frost. Since there was a lot to love in the 2018 Holidays Catalogue, I was trying really hard to narrow down my preorder list. I kept going back and forth with this stamp set (in parts because I initially thought it was only available in English), but I liked the images and the sentiments' font, so I used my hostess benefits to sneak it into my preorder. No regrets there - it's just adorable, and it looks great heat-embossed!

Thanks to the gorgeous paper and ribbon, this card is fairly simple while still packing a lot of punch. To mimick the sketch, I decided to punch out the foliage and omit part of the image. "Happy New Year" was embossed in copper powder on Merry Merlot cardstock  (a striking combo) and I added one of those awesome wire elements behind the image and sentiment strip. Those are beautiful, but I can tell they will be hard to work into cards because they don't like flat and you have nowhere to glue them down with! They'll need to be hung or tucked behind something else, like I did here. That ribbon is pretty fun, too. There's a slight difference between the two sides, but the copper is actually more of a sheen than an actual colour. For those who might be afraid it's really shiny, it's not - it's more on the shimmery side.

It's very rare that I don't mat my card and have the patterned paper directly on the card base, but I was liking the look and didn't want to distract from it.
