Inspiration: Clean & Simple Sketch #84 + Stamp Ink Paper #163
The lovely colour combo from Stamp Ink Paper allowed me to pull out the Twinkle Twinkle Designer Series Paper. I was looking at my stamps for inspiration, trying to think of something other than a baby card or a sky-themed card. When I saw the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set, I thought it could make for an interesting flower arrangement.
I had initially planned on cutting a Petal Pink rectangle out of cardstock, but I had recently spotted some old Love Notes die-cuts in my embellishment piles and I thought they might be the right size. I have been using those consistently ever since they came out many moons ago and I'm now down to two, after finishing this card. #goal = finish the pack already! I was looking at sentiments from the set and I really liked the "Mr. and Mrs." so I decided to stamp it in the corner of the main image rather than where it is on the sketch, and replace the place where the sentiment falls with a ribbon bow. I absolutely love that polka dot tulle ribbon, it's gorgeous and fluffy and makes very nice bows, although it is hard to tie because the tulle gets caught!
Because the Twinkle Twinkle suite includes some star sequins, I pulled those out. I hadn't opened the package yet and I was surprised to discover that the sequins are flat! The way they are packaged, the adhesive back was right-side up and the stars looked like they had a etched border, which would have been cool. My second surprise was that the iridescent stars have a purple/pink sheen to them. To me, that does not really go with the Petal Pink from the paper. While I'm sure I can work the iridescent stars into other design, I'm a little confused by them belonging to this suite. This is just a personal pet peeve of mine, but I prefer my iridescent embellishments to be white-based instead of having that pink/purplish tint that I find hard to work into designs. Maybe because purple is my least-used colour?
