Happy Birthday Sunshine

Inspiration: Little Red Wagon #447 (Under the Sun) + Simon Says Stamp (Inspired by a Song - Itsy Bitsy Yellow Polka Dot Bikini) + past challenge ColourQ #21

This card is one of those creations where the ideas came fast and easy. I knew I wanted to create my background with the Radiating Rays stencil from MFT. I knew I wanted to use the images from the adorable Beach Day stamp set from Neat & Tangled. I knew I would use Distress Oxide inks to ink everything. And I knew I wanted to use bright colours and make my card base out of vellum cardstock for a nice frosty look that would balance out the bright colours.

I got going from there, and along the way, I decided to add the new polka dot ribbon from Stampin' Up! Because the base is see-through, I feel it's easy to work into various designs without overwhelming them. I also decided to use Frosty Sparkle Glitter Kiss through the same stencil to create a shimmery halo around the sun. Then, I decided to stamp my sentiment in the sun center and add a die-cut above it. The sentiment rads, "Happy birthday sunshine" (in French). I

've added the main panel on the front of the card and the mat inside to sandwich the adhesive in between so that it wouldn't show through the vellum card base.That's where experience and good advice come in, as I wouldn't have thought to do that back when I first started crafting.
