Inspiration: Simon Says Stamp Wednesday (For the Boys) + CAS Sketch #271 + Stamp Ink Paper #149 (Dads & Grads)
When I saw the CAS Sketch, I knew it was my chance to pull out the Sneak a Peek stamp set and have the critters peek in windows. I was looking for patterned papers and the second stack I looked at had nautical papers in it, and I instantly decided to turn the square windows from the sketch into portholes. From there, the card evolved pretty easily. I used my Repeating Circles die from Simon Says Stamp yo make lining up the windows easier (the dies has six holes, but I only used a row of three).
The images were colored with Prismacolor pencils on one of the patterned paper, which is kraft coloured. I think if I had used actual kraft cardstock, it might have had more teeth and helped with blending, but I like how my coloring turned out nonetheless. The sentiment reads "Happy Father's Day, Dad" and I stamped it on patterned paper, then cut the words apart, both in order to fit the long sentiment in the narrow space, but also to have the words stand out on the patterned paper. The little banner at the top is from the dies that came with my Sidekick machine that I thought I wouldn't use and have now used twice in a couple of days. I filled the heart shape with a gold enamel heart.
I had to punch out many circles before I found a combo that worked on the portholes, so instead of wasting those punched circles, I used them to decorate the inside of the card and the envelope. (Remember it's a good place to put those scraps to good use!)
