This card was inspired by Clean and Simple #58 Take II (and and old colour combo from Colour Q, #286). I have been wanting to add texture paste to the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper for a while, so I decided to give it a try here since the background on the sketch was open. It was also a good opportunity to use the Colorful Seasons bundle again. I stamped the leaves on Crumb Cake for a different, more earthy look. And I die-cut the intricate leaf out of Copper Paper and layered it over a leaf stamped with Cajun Craze ink. I have to say, that is one gorgeous die-cut! I'll be using this one more, for sure. Over vellum for a stained glass look, maybe?
I mixed texture paste with two colors of reinker - Crushed Curry and Cajun Craze, and I applied them through my stencil, overlapping the two colors slightly. On my main panel, I embossed "Big congrats!" in Copper Stampin' Emboss powder, and overstamped the Tree Rings background stamp in VersaMark. I wanted the result to be subtle, which is why I didn't use Bermuda Bay ink, for a softer look. I also made sure to stamp the background AFTER I had embossed my sentiment, otherwise the VersaMark would have made it impossible to emboss just the words. On a whim, I decided to add A True Gentleman button threaded with twine, since the wooden look went well with the rest of the card. Two Cajun Craze enamel dots finished the card on the scallop edge (which was created with a die from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits).
I rarely do simple, but I have to say I'm pleased with this one. I just wish it photographed better!
