I was inspired by the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge #258 to pull out the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set, which fit very well with the sketch. For colours, I pulled inspiration from an old ColourQ combo (#278).
I started with the three candles and used a stamp position tool to center them perfectly. I initially planned to embossed the stripes and dots on them in clear powder but when I opened my embossing powder drawers, I spotted Copper and thought it would look nice with the colours, so I switched gears. I also added Clear Wink of Stella to the flames.
I used the same powder to emboss the sentiment. I picked "a shower of confetti" because it was long and narrow. The last word was a little bigger, though, and I wanted to make sure I wouldn't hide the candles too much, so I used a pencil to draw lines above and over the narrowest part of the sentiment, and I used my scissors to follow the lines and then fussy cut around the last word. I like how it turned out, it think it's one of the elements that make the card stand out.
Since the sentiment was talking about confetti, I thought I could stamp the confetti images around the edge and emboss them in clear powder. I then lightly applied a bit of Pink Pirouette ink around the edges to make the confetti stand out and create a light frame.
I matted the image with Pumpkin Pie cardstock and mounted the image on a Thick Whisper White card base.
