Stampin' Up! had a picture of a gift box shared online and I thought I could turn the concept into a card, so I gave it a spin.It goes without saying that with the ribbon bow and the mini ornament, it makes for a really bulky card. For that reason, I used matching Designer Series Paper and made an oversized envelope.
I've no clue how the concept artist managed to make the subtle watercolor wash on the paper. Despite my best efforts (trying with various paintbrush, wetting the paper before adding the ink), I still ended up getting some very sharp brushstrokes. The paper soaks up the ink instantly and you can't move the ink around like you would on watercolor paper or even on cardstock. In the end, it does not really matter once the card is put together, because it's sitting behind the tag, but obviously, I'm msissing something.
