Daydream

This card was inspired by a DTGD challenge calling for a tissue paper technique, the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge (Splatter It) and the Fusion challenge. I turned the sketch 90 degrees and the wave became the clouds. The office supplies also went well with the paper plane.

Using my Distres Oxide inks, I dyed a piece of white tissue paper. I then used VersaMark and silver embossing powder to add a few metallic touches, before gluing the tissue paper to cardstock and creating the background you see here. I knew I wanted to use the Plane and Simple stamp set. I had initially envisioned using the retro plane again, but the paper plane went  better with the inspiration picture and allowed to use an image I had not inked yet from the set.

I was looking for a French sentiment to match and found "Never forget your dreams" in a SAB from this past Spring, which just happened to fit perfectly in the biggest cloud die from the set.

I sort of like the idea of this finished card, but if I was to make it again, I might tweak a few details. I'm not sure about the Ruby red card base, I think Real Red ight have worked better with my colored image. I'm also not sure about the Brushed Silver cardstock clouds. I wanted to match the silver embossing, but I'm not sure about the dark clouds.

Happy Bee-Day

This card was inspired by a DTGD challenge and the Global Design Project Sketch #98.The colour combo was inspired by the now retired Color Coach. Since I was using the Hexagon Hive (which, by the way, might be one of the dies in my collection that has been the most neglected), I knew I wanted to use Hello Honey as one of the colours and I reached for the Color Coach to see if we were still getting suggested color combo the year that In Color was added to the catalog, and it was. (I'm still adding colors to my Color Coach by cutting cardstock to size and adding it to the binding, This allows me to play around with color combo without having to pull out my actual cardstock folders.)

I thought the Marbled background might look good as a texture to go with the honey theme. I stamped my background three times on different cardstock and with different inks before I found something to my liking. When looking through my cardstock scraps, I found one from a former project I hadn't used, with a vertical sentiment from Vertical Sentiments and it was the right size to become my third banner from the sketch, so I didn't even have to think about which sentiment to use since the solution presented itself to me straight off the bat.

The cute bee comes from Stampendous' Happy Bee-day, a stamp set I seem to be reaching for every year I play in the DTGD challenges, for some reason. (Here, it was an obvious choice to pair with the honeycomb background.) I colored the bee and added Stickles to the wings, brown velvet flocking to its mid-section and Crystal Effects to the balloon.

Beach Babe

This card was inspired by As You See It #155. When I lose my craft mojo, I... shop! There's nothing like new supplies to spark new ideas.

When I started the card I was planning on doing something fast and cute, but the project kind of took a life of its own and gew into this multi-layered, intricate card. The inspiration kept coming and I decided to go with it. I found the Make a Splash papers from Bo Bunny in my stash and I think they complement the image really well. I used my Prismacolor pencils to color the image, and I had done a cool light reflection effet on her glasses, but as I was finishing the card, I stumbled unto some enamel accents I had created using the Nuvo Glitter Drops and on a whim, I decided to give her funky glittery glasses. It gives the image a totally cool vibe. I don't know if the picture will show this well, but the card was seemed a little bare, so I used a handmade shimmery mist and the Radiating Rays stencil to add sparkly rays in the back and it totally completed the card.

The sentiment reads something like, "Our friendship is really important to me."
