I'm trying to get ahead in my Holidays planning and this weekend, I worked on putting together and packaging my Christmas gifts for my two colleagues who are nice enough to sell my cards at the Quebec City office. I had bought chocolate for them, and when I saw an adorable packaing on Julie Davidson's blog, it got the wheels rolling.
I first packaged the chocolates using polka dots cello bags from a past Sale-A-Bration kit. I picked the new Candycane Lane DSP for one package, and the last bits of bery Bouquet DSP I had leftover after making Christmas cards with it earlier this year. I used the Pretty Pines Thinlits to decorate one package, and the Jolly Friends stamp set and Santa Hat punch to decorate the other. The Here's to Cheers stamp set and matching Cheerful Tags Framelits were also useful to decorate both the chocolate packaging and gift bags.
Speaking of gift bags, I did not have any existing gift bag on hand to put the gifts in, so I decided to make my own with matching cardstock and paper. That actually worked out better than I had thought. I used a 5" x 12" strip of Real Red cardstock, and scored the cardstock at 4-1/2" and 7-1/2". Then, to make the sides, I used matching DSP, measuring 3-1/2" x 4-3/4". I scored the two long sides at 1/4" and the bottom at 1/4" as well and cut out the two corners. Then, I scored a line in the center, from the top edge to the 3-1/2" mark, and then from there, I used a ruler and a stylus to add scoring from the end of my score line to the two corners, to make the bag fold. Before gluing everything together, I spritzed the red cardstock using the Seasonal Decorative Masks from the Holidays Catalogue (I absolutely love those and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they'll carry over to the next catalogue) and the Smooch Sprays we used to carry, I punched two holes on each side and used the Kraft rope trim to create handles.
The Christmas moose was also inspired by the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge (Christmas critters) and the Naughty or Nice challenge #33 with the punched hat. Both projects were also inspired by Just Add Ink #337 Just Choose Two - Die-cuts and Designer Paper.
