I was having insomnia last night and finally just gave up and went back to my stamp room. Sometimes, just picking stuff out for my next project is enough to put my mind to rest and be ready to go back to sleep afterwards. The Basic Grey papers I had leftovers from the envelope I had made for THIS card had been left on my desk because I knew I could make another awesome card with the scraps. I went through my stamps and when I spotted the Christmas Bauble single stamp from last year's Holiday catalogue, I thought it would pair well with the ornaments on my patterned papers. Then, looking at the Merry Monday challenges I hadn't done yet, I spotted Merry Monday #210: Use Peace, Joy and/or Love on your card. The Christmas Greetings Thinlits include the word "peace", so it was perfect for the theme.
I stamped the bauble on watercolor paper using Jet Black StazOn ink and watercolored the image using a blending pen and ink. A piece of ribbon was added at the ornament was added to the card using Stampin' Dimensionals. The die-cut word was cut out of Silver Foil Paper, but when came time to adhere it to the card, I was a little perplexed. It looked best added on top of the ornament, but since it was on dimensionals, I wasn't sure how to keep the right side of the word even. So I die-cut the second half of the word five times out of cardstock on which I had previously placed adhesive sheets on the back, and then I was able to layer those five die-cuts together on the back of the silver word. That meant that only half of the word was "dimensional" so I added fine-tip glue to the back of the word and glued the left side on the ornament and the right side directly on the card, keeping the word level.
Since the card was made out of a cardstock leftover as well, it is an odd dimension, namely 4-3/4" x 4-1/4". I made my own envelope using the Envelope Punch Board (using the dimensions for a square envelope for 5" x 5" cards).
This card was also inspired by the Stampg Smiles Designs #14 tie-tac-toe grid (Dimensional + Intricate Die + Ribbon).
