As I figured, once I got into the Oh Happy Day Card Kit, I couldn't put it down. I started by selecting the cards I loved the most and wanted to copy without changing them, and then I worked with the remaining pieces on creating new cards. The reason behind the changes was mostly that I knew I wouldn't get as much use out of the smaller cards. I think smaller cards are nice to go with a little gift, to slip in a kid's backpack or lunch or in a customer's order bag. Right now, though, full-size cards are what I need the most, so I used the kit's pieces to create larger cards.
Let me show you what I've made (and I'm not done, as I still have stuff left in the kit). First, the cards that are copied from the kit:
This one was slightly modified, as I adhered the polka-dot embossed cardstock to a Smoky Slate card base and a Melon Mambo mat. I also added a sparkly star in the corner and two glittery dots.
The layering was inspired by a kit design, but I cut the card front and mounted it onto a regular 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" Bermuda Bay card front, and added a piece of Tango Tangerine DSP at the bottom, and a piece of Daffodil Delight ribbon.
I kept most of the original layering design on the yellow heart, but cut it off the smaller card and transferred it to the full-size polka dot card. Then, I moved the sentiment banner to the bottom of the card and added a chipboard star.
This card was inspired by the Global Project Design challenge #45. The card kit had negative die-cuts in which the sentiment was stamped, so it seemed to naturally call for a shaker card. I picked one of the black and white card base and simple added little touch of Smoky Slate and Melon Mambo from my stash to use for the colour challenge. The shaker was filled with little stars punched out of Silver Foil Paper using the Star Border Punch.
This card was inspired by the Viva la Verve July Sketch #2.
This card was inspired by the Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch #203.
