I really loved the inspiration picture from Merry Monday this week (#204). The challenge is to combine wood, kraft and white, which looks awesome together.
My card actually started out with a card base from THIS project that didn't work out as I was hoping. I had stamped the clear block on my card and then decided to spray some Silver Smooch on the card to mirror the splatter from the sketch and despite keeping the spritzer a good distance from the card, I got way more spray on the card that I wanted. It was too dark for the look I was going for on the other card, but for a Christmas card, I thought I could make it work since it looked like frost. So, I simple overstamped the Hardwood background stamp on the card front and added the sentiment, which I embossed in white powder to make sure it stood out. I added snowflakes from the Flurry of Wishes stamp set in Whisper White Craft ink.
TIP: In this stamp set, the two smaller snowflakes are together as one stamp, placed to match the placement on the coordinating punch. It kept bugging me when creating backgrounds to have the two images so close together because I found it hard to fill out spaces where I would usually use the smaller snowflake. In this instance, I wanted a few loose flakes to frame my sentiments, so stamping the two together didn't work for me. So I finally took the plunge and cut the two images apart with my rubber scissors. I can still use the punch, just by stamping and punching the snowflakes one at a time, but if I do want to punch them both at the same time, what I did was cut the images apart in a V so I can easily piece the photopolymer back together on my clear block if I want to. Don't forget the stamps are yours to modify to your liking, depending the use you have for them.

Your snowflakes are so pretty on the woodgrain background, Cindy! I often cut my stamps apart. You can get double the mileage from those stamps! Thanks for sharing with us at Merry Monday!
