Christmas Joy Wreath

Tip: Use markers to use different sentiments together. The set includes "nuit de" which can be combined with "Noël", but I wanted to use the word "joie" instead, so I only inked the second word of "nuit de" using my Mossy Meadow Stampin' Write marker and stamped it beside my other word. The set is made out of photopolymer so I was able to stamp the word right where I needed it without the use of the Stamp-a-ma-jig.

Fabulous Work of Art

While working on scrapbooking my Christmas pictures, I noticed that my niece's shirt was the same colour as the Mint Macaron found in the Project Life Hello December 2015 pack. Even though the layout itself was simple to put together, it took me a long time to decide on which cards to use because I love them all! This is my favorite Project Life pack Stampin' Up! has issued so far. It's soft and gorgeous and the mix of colours really speak to me.

The right card was made by combining two cards together: I handcut the top of a journaling card, and glued it on top of the snowflake one, and used the center to stamp my title. It comes from the Work of Art stamp set (Annual Catalogue, p. 118) and it was perfect to go with the picture of my niece crafting.

I added Snowflake Wooden Elements and the rest of the embellishments all come from the Hello December kit (the sequins, the little stars, the tag, even the narrow washi tape). I strongly recommend getting yours before they sell out or retire from the catalogue. The embellishment pack includes number stickers, so you can either make an album that records the highlights of your month of December, or you can use it like I am to scrapbook your Holidays picture as your normally would. I can't say enough good thing about this Project Life collection.

Sparkly Trees

I had too much on my mind to sleep this week and decided to try a little creative therapy to try and relax. Since it was late, I went for something simple and pulled out a Simply Created kit from last year. I mostly used what the kit called for, but did pull in a few new items, like the Curvy Corner Trio Punch and the Holly Jolly Greetings stamp set. I also didn't like that the kit includes vanilla twine along with a white background, so I used Coastal Cabana Thick Baker's Twine instead.

The glittery lightbulb was die-cut using an older die called Stocking Accents. I covered my white cardstock with Big Shot Adhesive Sheet before die-cutting the image, which allowed me to then cover the whole die-cut with glitter and get an even coating on it. I die-cut a scrap of Silver Glimmer Paper in the shape of the lightbulb, cut the top off and glued it on the lightbulb to get a silver top.

Accounting Summer Party

 

Those pictures were taken a few summers ago at the Accounting Department BBQ party. The Bo Bunny Boardwalk papers were perfect to highlight them.

The title was done using the golf leafing technique with gilding flakes I found at a local store. I used alphabet stamps and our Heat & Stick powder to create the look. Goes well with the peeling paint patterned paper.

Christmas Lunch

Catching up on scrapbooking pictures that were taken a few years ago, back in Quebec City. The fun, childish designs from the Doodlebug Design papers matched the  fun vibe of the pictures really nicely, and I used an extra 5" x 7" Project Life pocket to add one more picture to the layout.

Baby Card Envelope

I needed an envelope for my friend's baby card, so I decorated a vellum envelope and pinned it on my gift bag using mini clothespin on which I glued a thin strip of champagne glimmer paper.

My friend's sister had informed me that the theme of the baby's room was owls, so I pulled out my owl punch to do a little wink to that. The vellum envelope was run through the Big Shot using the Large Polka Dot Embossing Folder.

More Halloween Treat Boxes

I had more candy to wrap, so I made a few more Halloween boxes this week. They appeared to brighten people's day when I distributed them at the office.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Dangerously Cute

You've seen me use these little boxes on a past Halloween project recently, and I was worried I wouldn't be able to fit anything in there except maybe a lollipop or something, but the Reese's Pieces solved that problem. With that in mind, I decorated a second box.

I've been trying out the Tear & Tape Adhesive Stampin' Up! added to its line this year and I'm very happy with the results so far. The tape has great hold but is also really easy and quick to use since you can just tear it up instead of using scissors. The protective liner is also really easy to grab hold of and pull off, which is not always the case with tape that kind of adhesive. Check it out on page 156 of the Annual Catalogue. At $8.50 (CAD) for 25 m, it's a great deal.

Halloween Purses

I got the Mini Purse Bigz Die when it became available on a catalogue preorder years ago... and then proceeded to use it once, discover just how shockingly small it was, and then it gathered dust ever since. Last Friday, I went to Bulk Barn to buy Halloween treats to prepare some Halloween packages for the office and got, among other things, Reese's Pieces. As I was looking through my dies, I thought the purse might actually work nicely for that candy and sure enough, you can fit quite a big chunk in there, so based off of Just Us Girls challenge colours (#315), I created those little purses using some adorable Doodlebug Designs papers.

Looking at the CAS(E) This Sketch #145, I thought I could stamp an Halloween sentiment repeatedly and then pop a little pumpkin on the side to mimick the sketch. The colour scheme came from the Fab Friday challenge #75. A little bit of piercing using the piercing templates and a black satin ribbon complete the card.

Baby Album - My First Year

Roxane, one of my oldest friends from high school, had a baby girl last Spring. I was invited by the family to attend her shower, but due to a combination of bad weather and car problems, I was unable to go. I planned to give her the album when I would visit her and the baby, so now that the album is safely in her hands, I can share pictures of it here. I used papers from the Hello Baby collection by Simple Stories and matching die-cuts to quickly put together the album. There's a layout for every month of her first year and since I had room for a few extra pages at the end, I added first bath, first night home, etc.

Roxane was really touched by the gift and really love the album, so it was worth every single minute that went into it. Antique Bicycle

Forever ago, I bought an 8" x 8" paper stack from Graphic 45 called Olde Curiosity Shoppe. The vintage style of the papers is quite different from what I usually go for and I guess at the time, I saw this as a chance to add variety to my stash, but I just didn't really know what to make with it so it sat unused in my paper pile for a long time. Today, I decided to make a conscious effort to try and find something that could work with it and I'm happy to say that I'm quite pleased with how the card turned out, even though I had my doubts when I first started putting it together.

Seeing the bicycle patterned paper made me think of the Timeless Talk stamp set, so that's what I used for the main image. Looking at sentiment options, I spotted the Happy Birthday, Everyone hostess stamp set and thought the big sentiment would work well on the background paper. A little clip made out of cardstock using the Project Life Paper Clips Thinlits and decorated with a Home for Christmas Enamel Dot adds a nice finishing touch.

Since the paper pack measures 8" x 8", the sheets were big enough to allow making a regular-size envelope using the Envelope Punch Board as well.

ColourQ challenge #312 inspired a new Halloween treat package project. I looked through my Big Shot dies and decided to pull out the Petal Cone, which I hadn't used recently. Snow Globe

So when I saw the Mojo Monday sketch #419, the square part reminded me of the Project Life square cards we have. I went hunting in my Project Life card collections and found this snow globe image from last year's Seasonal Snapshots 2014 collection. It was the starting point of the design and when looking for matching Designer paper, I remembered the Under the Tree Specialty Designer Paper from last year, which I used for the card's background.

I used the Darling Doily Thinlits die, which I got from the Clearance Rack (Doilies in any colour that you want and need, at half the original price - too good to pass up!) on a piece of vellum cardstock. I added sequins from the Hello December 2014 Accessories Kit. Dazzling Details was added to the snow in the snowglobe.

I stamped a sentiment from the Oh, What Fun stamp set (page 5 of current Holidays catalogue) on a piece cut out from another Project Life card. (Don't be afraid to cut them apart, to get more use out of the whole pack.)

Since the image card was quite big (4" x 4"), I made a bigger size card than the usual format, in 4½" x 6", and made a matching envelope using paper from the same Designer Paper pack with the Envelope Punch Board. Abundance of Blessings

We just had officially our first snowflakes today. It was a blink and you'll miss kind of thing, though: it started with rain and just as I was typing this message, it turned to big fluffy snowflakes, and then in a matter of two minutes, it stopped. This is just as well: we shouldn't be getting snow before Halloween, it's just too soon! Winter promises to be long enough as it is, it doesn't need to start right now.

I guess that makes today's card appropriate, since the sentiment reads, "Happy Holidays and may blessings abound like snowflakes". When I started this card (based off of Sugar Pea Designs sketch #31), I planned on making a neutral tag and adding a stamped image to it in addition to a sentiment, but when I started selecting papers from the Snow Day stack from Lawn Fawn, I spotted this cute scrap with the bunnies and landscape and thought it would make a great tag. I decided to only add a sentiment and went looking through my options to find one that would fill out the space well. When I found the sentiment about snow in the Six Sentiments hostess stamp set (current Holidays Catalogue, page 51), I knew it would work nicely. I wanted to emboss it in colour to make it pop, but the greens and pinks I had were not proper matches, so I ended up using the Smoky Slate Stampin' Emboss powder (sadly now retired). 

And that cute knit border at the bottom of the green paper? It's from the Project Life Seasonal Snapshots 2015 stamp set. Have you got yours yet? It's a must-have!

Peaceful Wishes

I really liked the sketch from Fab Friday #74 and the lovely colour combo from Create with Connie and Mary #376. This card came together quite likely and I'm quite happy with the final result. I wish inspiration always came so smoothly!

The card base was embossed with the Bough and Berries embossing folder (Holidays Catalogue, page 30). A piece of paper from the Typeset Designer Series Paper was added to the card. Then, I stamped a piece of Lost Lagoon cardstock with the snowflake and flurries from the Holly Jolly Greetings stamp set, embossing the smaller image with Iridescent Ice Stampin' Emboss Powder. I punched the right lower corner using the Curvy Corner Trio Punch (HC, page 18).

I used the same stamp set for the sentiment (including the darling dangling stars), and then I used the Voeux Framelits Dies to die-cut the word "peace" out of Silver Glimmer Paper. It should be noted that the stamp set and Framelits dies are offered together as a bundle for 15% off. It is very nice to finally have word dies offered in various languages so I was happy to add those to my collection.

To finish embellishing the card, I added a Metallic Doily with a Element Snowflake on top, decorated with a Iced Rhinestone Embellishment (HC, page 24). Winter Wonderland Embllishments were added as well. (We've had many metal with a rhinestone center embellishments over the year, but I should say those are my absolute favorite - they are small and delicate and easy to work into a design.) Then, I used glue dots to add a couple of shimmery sequins I had leftover from the Watercolour Wishes Card Kit.

Oh, Deer...

I couldn't resist getting the Jolly Christmas stamp set from the Holidays Catalogue on my latest order. The deer silhouette is really cute, but I also really liked the sentiments included in the stamp set. One of the sentiments I didn't like as much was the "You-houx joyeux Noël". It's a play on words on mistletoe, but I just didn't see myself really using this sentiment, so I used my rubber scissors to cut the sentiment in half so that I could keep the "joyeux Noël" on its own. Don't forget that you can customize your stamps according to your preferences and how you want to be using them.

This card was designed around the TGIF challenge #24 (sketch) and the Pals Paper Arts challenge #271 (colours). I also used another new background stamp, called Brushstrokes, on the Hello Honey piece. Another new item from this year's catalogue I got are the Metallic Doilies. Great way to add shine and elegance to a design. The finishing touch was an Element Snowflake, which I've been adding everywhere because they're my favorite embellishment from the Holidays catalogue.

Enchanted

I just received the 2015 Holidays Catalogue Hostess set called Six Sayings and wanted to make a card to welcome new recruits to my downline using the "Enchanted" sentiment. Since it's quite big, I was looking at sketches that could work with it and when I saw the CAS(E) This Sketch #144, I knew I could stamp the sentiment on patterned paper and add little bats in lieu of papillon. I used the polka dot paper from the Happy Haunting Designer Paper Pack and when I saw the orange polka dots, I knew I could do a neutral card that worked for the Colour Me Challenge #92 as well.

All I did to decorate the card was add a punched banner at top and a handdrawn black border around the paper, using a Basic Black Stampin' Write marker. Simple, but adorable.

The little bat comes from the Project Life Seasonal Snapshots 2015 stamp set. I've been using this little image a bunch already.

I was so happy with my Basic Grey Archival ink pad that I decided to splurge on the Basic Black as well (even though I love and use the Tuxedo Black Memento ink pad all the time). This is what I used to stamp the sentiment and bat. Be warned that the archival ink really stains stamps, but it doesn't affect their use. You can see by the little bat I stamped in orange on the envelope that the ink doesn't transfer to other colours of ink, even if the stamp remains stained.

This is one of the last pictures of my aunt Rolande and I taken together. She was an amazing godmother to me, always there at every concert, special birthday, special event, very supportive, very loving, very present. She set a wonderful example, and now I'm hoping I can be all of those things for my niece Megan as well.

Introducing Megan

I think this is the last Dare to Get Dirty project I hadn't shared yet. The challenges for this one were to use a stencil and add hearts to a project. I knew I could kill two birds with one stone by using the hearts die-cuts that were included with the Designer Series Paper i used below as a stencil. You'll see that's what I did on the right upper panel, and I used my own mix of Pool Party spritz.  I then flipped the die-cuts over and used the front piece (the red) on the panel as well. I wanted to take out the lacy part on one of the hearts and afterwards, thought I could use that piece for another one of my panels (middle left panel). The bottom left panel heart was stamped with the Hearts a Flutter stamp set, die-cut with the matching Framelits and then I stamped the same heart on my Pool Party spritzed die-cuts and cut out the center to paper piece the first Vanilla heart. The row of hearts was die-cut using a piece from the Mini Treat Bag Framelits dies (I've been using those so much, way beyond making bags!). The silver bow on the bottom picture comes from this set as well.

The title was created using some retired alphabet dies (which I wish we still carried because the smaller size is perfect for Project Life pages).

Frightful Night Basket

Another one of my World Cardmaking Day challenge was to create packaging for an upcoming Holiday. I chose Halloween and pulled out the Berry Basket Bigz L Die. I like how it looks paired with the Happy Haunting Designer Series Paper, which happened to fit with another one of my challenges, which was to use our favorite DSP. This one is my current favorite. The patterns are all really cool and modern and offer a grown-up take on Halloween, which I appreciate.

I used the Project Life Seasonal Snapshots 2015 stamp set (can't keep this one away) for the front and also to stamp two bats to add to the basket handle. I punched two circles out of the polka dot paper and used the googly eyes we used to carry a year or two ago. To create the scalloping on the handle, I simply die-cut the scallop border twice and lined up the pattern when gluing them down on a larger strip of Basic Black cardstock. I used the Fringe Scissors to add straw inside the basket.

The sentiment was stamped on Very Vanilla cardstock and punched with the 1-3/4" Circle Punch. I handcut the center of a Spiderweb Doily and matted the stamped image with it. I lined up the back of the doily with a piece of Tangelo Twist cardstock punched with the 2" Circle Punch. At the bottom, I used the openings in the basket to thread a piece of Tangelo Twist Satin Ribbon (now retired, but available while supplies last in the Clearance Rack of SU!'s online store) and tied it in a bow. The remaining of my punched gold glimmer stars were added with the Precision Glue to the sentiment block.

Silver Cording Trim was wrapped around the handle and tied in each corners of the basket.

Celebrating World Cardmaking Day

So October 3rd is World Cardmaking Day and to celebrate, I organized a virtual crop for the members of my Stampin' Up! downline. I posted a few challenges on our team Facebook forum and we shared our creations with each other. One of those challenges was a sketch, and I also shared a list of color combos that showcase the 2015-2017 In Colors. I combined both challenges on this card, made with the Tap Tap Tap stamp set (a personal favorite).

Winter Starry Night

When looking at the Happy Haunting Designer Series Paper, I spotted the star pattern and thought it could be used for projects other than Halloween. Remembering the Sleigh Ride Edgelits Dies, I thought I could make a little scene with a starry sky. This was the starting point of the card, and then I punched the corners using the Curvy Corner Trop Punch.

For the card base, I paired Delightful Dijon for the card and added a piece of Hello Honey stamped with the little stars from the Holly Jolly Greetings stamp set. The sentiment comes from the Oh, What Fun stamp set and reads, "Do you hear the jingle bells?" To finish it off, I punched little stars using the Confetti Stars Border Punch on Gold Glimmer paper and glued those in place using the wonderful Precision Glue from the Holidays catalogue.
