Poinsettia Wreath

This card was inspired by the Tuesday Morning Sketch #319 and the colour combo from Fab Friday challenge #73. I was looking through Holiday stamps and thought the wreath would look good with the colour combo. It turned out even better than I had hoped for. The Rich Razzleberry looks really great against the Old Olive wreath. I added a touch of gold by matting the sentiment block with Brushed Gold cardstock.

The dots at the top of the card are from the Home for Christmas Enamel Dots pack. Those go with way more than the Home for Christmas suite and I've used them on a variety of projects I've done so far (Christmas, Halloween and others).

Wicked Halloween Box

I hadn't used my Box Punch Board in a while and decided to pull it out to make some more Halloween packaging. I paired them with some cool gold foil Halloween papers I found at a local store, and pulled out a retired set called Wicked Cool. The design at the front of the box was based off of Sweet Sunday Sketch #288.

Under a Blanket of Warmth and Joy

The author of the Clean & Simple Stamping Sketch challenges have recently gone back to revisiting her old sketches starting from the start, which was a great idea because she's been sharing great sketches over the year and most stampers haven't had the chance to play with them all, so we're rediscovering them. For this card, I used Clean & Simple Sketch #24.

The adorable penguin is called Frost (from Purple Onion Designs' Stacey Yacula Studio collection). Don't you want to just squish him? I found the perfect sentiment for him in Stampin' Up!'s French version of the Joyful Season stamp set. It reads, "May your season be wrapped in a coat of warmth and joy." Thought it went well with the winter-bundled penguin.

At the bottom, I used the hanging stars from the Holly Jolly Greetings stamp set and the swirly border from the Oh, What Fun stamp set.

Halloween Night

When I saw the ColourQ combo #309, I thought of modern and elegant Halloween. I spotted the Woodland embossing folder on my desk and thought grey trees could look nice, so it was the starting point of my cards. I thought the MFT sketch #247 would work well to show the trees, because of the wider panel, and then I went hunting for a sentiment that would be big enough to fill out the space in the center. I spotted the You're So Sweet stamp set. It's not an Halloween set per se, but there's a sentiment about goodies in there that ties nicely to Halloween candy. This sentiment is meant to be paired with some new Framelits dies we now carry, but since I don't have those myself, I got creative and die-cut the sentiment with the Deco Labels Framelits dies instead. I added Candy Dots and Silver Dazzling Details on each sides.

I also liked the idea of the banner sentiment, layered in two colours so I decided to make two different cards. The background cardstock was stamped with the Woodgrain background stamp (now retired) to match the tree image, and the tree panel was matted with Silver Foil Paper.

By the way, have you tried out the new Archival inks SU! issued in the Holidays catalogue (in Basic Grey and Basic Black)? They are awesome and stamp beautifully. I highly recommend them.

Good to the Last Bite

When I looked through the box where I keep the cristal bags I used on my last project, I also found those Boutique Boxes die-cuts we used to carry a few seasonal catalogues ago. I thought they would make for a quick but cute Halloween box, so I used the Happy Haunting Designer Series Paper again and paired it with the TGIF challenge #20 sketch. Flurry Party

I paired a new stamp set (Flurry of Wishes) with some old Designer Paper (Winter Frost) to create today's card. The idea to pull out this DSP paper pad came from the Stampin' Royalty challenge #296: I pulled the turquoise colour out of the inspiration picture, and the stars reminded of the lacy snowflake from the stamp set. Fright Night Glassine Bag

I'd like to offer a few goodies bag at the office at Halloween, so I'm trying to make a few packages here and there before Halloween rolls around. When I saw the Hand Stamped Sentiments Sketch #221, I thought the Spiderweb Doilies would work great for the big circle of the sketch. I used one of the glassine bags I have in my stash and decorated it using some of the beautiful Happy Haunting Designer Series Paper and the Project Life Seasonal Snapshots 2015 stamp set. (This one is fun - I keep going back to it lately.)

It should be noted that the Tangelo Twist Satin Ribbon retired this summer, but it's now been added to the Clearance Rack (click on link to see what else is available) if you want to get some to match the Halloween papers.

Snapshot

As the Dare to Get Dirty challenge week was coming to a close, I saw that I was really close to completing all of the challenges, but fast running short on time. My creations then started getting simpler and simpler as the deadline was approaching. This is one of the card I created for the farm theme. There was no way I had time to colour this big image, but I thought the black and white kind of looked like a picture, so I took out a polaroid frame I had leftover from a project kit from the Occasions catalogue and I paired it with a sentiment from the Sweet Stack stamp set.

This is another card made during the DTGD challenge week (man, I didn't realize I had produced so much!). The doughnut patterned paper was just a perfect match to the sentiment in the stamp set!

Surviving

As much as I would like to believe otherwise, I knew that getting the bunny with the cancer ribbon stamp set would be a useful addition to my stamp collection. I try to have a variety of cards on hand at the office and I hope we do not need to use this one for a long while, but we might.

After finishing a scrapbook page (that I haven't photographed yet), I used the leftover scraps to make this card. I found the word "Courage" in one of my Stampin' Up! sentiment sets and embossed it in Pool Party embossing powder.

I really like how this one turned out. The colour combo really appeals to me and I like how it's both bright but still muted.

The design came from two sketch who happened to be the exact same layout this week: Nacho Average #159 and Viva la Verve Sept. #3.It was also made for the TCP Tuesday challenge #299.

Fluffy Friend

How sweet is this little penguin? Totally hugable. I think it totally makes the card, without me having to do much else. I did draw inspiration from the Paper Craft Card Crew Sketch #162 for my design, and you'll notice one of the cute new Snowflake Elements peeking out from behind my main image.

The sentiment comes from the Jingle All the Way stamp set (p. 12 of the Occasions catalogue). The script font and slight curve was just perfect for the angle layout of my card. A little dash of Dazzling Details also highlights the gift wrapping and completes the touch of bling added with the rhinestones and the silver cord trim.

Beach Babes

The summer is coming to an end amidst my Christmas-card production... The weather is still beautiful and warm this week but I was a little bummed to be reminded that fall is definitely coming around when leaving for work and noticing it was getting a little too breezy for bare legs and sandals early in the morning. Maybe it's because I'm holding on to whatever is left of the nice weather that I pulled out those summer-themed papers and paired them with the Beach Babes?

Either way, this image needed to see some ink, and the Freshly Made Sketch #204 was just the right inspiration for this large image. I wanted a French sentiment so I found the "tchin-tchin" greeting in a Stampin' Up! set.

Stuffing Our Faces

These pictures are just silly. My favorite dessert is my mom's choux à la crème (cream puffs).  We've never seen any go to waste, I can tell you that. While my sister and I usually stuff our faces with them, we did ham it up for the camera for sure, here. Makes for funny memories. My niece was so little on those pictures, a couple of months at the most. She's turning three in a month, reminds me how fast she's growing up.

The Project Life cards I used for that layout are from last year's Sale-A-Bration offering.

 

TIP: I used an Halloween greeting stamp set on my page. The sentiment read yumyumyum and I stamped it repeatedly on a scrap of paper to create a border at the top of my page. Try to see how your greeting stamps can take a different meaning when used on your pages to get more mileage out of your supplies.

Bokeh Wishes

One of the challenges during DTGD 2015 was to do a technique with water. I was totally enamored with the look of the Bokeh Technique when I first tried it so I immediately decided it would be the technique I would be using for my project.

I taped off the edges of my watercolor paper to create a white frame using washi tape (masking tape would work as well, but I have so much washi tape, I decided I could spare some).

The cute wording comes from new Framelits from the annual catalogue. For the first time, we have a French version! I die-cut the word twice: used the negative shape from the Elegant Eggplant cardstock and inlaid the positive part cut out from vellum inside, then covered my vellum piece with Dazzling Details.

Holidays Rosette

When I saw the inspiration picture for the Stampin' Celebration challenge #112, I thought I could make a rosette and pair it with the Fab Friday sketch #72, which had a big circle on it. As I was putting the card together, the center seemed a little bare so I decided to add lace trim around it - tying the card to the Naughty or Nice challenge #19 as well.

I'm really loving the Cozy Christmas stamp set (page 9 of Stampin' Up!'s Holidays Catalogue) and keep reaching for it for my projects. The vintage-looking sentiment was colored with Stampin' Write Markers, stamped and punched with the 2-1/2" Circle punch, then I stamped and handcut the bells from the set at the bottom.

A little piece of Real Red Foil Paper was added behind the image as well. Since the rosette is pretty thick, I used my Envelope Punch Board to make a matching envelope and used a slightly bigger format to have room to accomodate the bulk.

This is the very last card I completed for the Dare to get Dirty challenges. I needed to use the Rock 'n Roll technique so I pulled out the #coucou stamp set to do so. I discovered that getting a nice rock 'n roll look with our new foam pads is not easy! I used to do the rock 'n roll technique with the felt ink pads and the look had less of a stark contrast, probably because the old pads didn't ink as evenly as the new ones do. I took three tries, but then I finally achieved a result I liked. My first try was with two ink colours, but I finally decided on using just Daffodil Delight and stamping off my image before rolling it again in the same ink pad.

The rest of the card was decorated using various papers from the Cherry on Top paper stack. Aren't those papers just putting you in a good mood?

Christmas at Cindy's

This is a cute layout I made using the old pocket page protector SU! used to carry before they added Project Life to their official line. One of the formats had a big 6" x 12" pocket at top, which I used to create my title block.

 This is a silly card I created during the Dare to Get Dirty Challenge week on Splitcoast Stampers. The challenge called for a funny card, so I created this sentiment using alphabet stamps.

Another challenge called for doodling, so I freehanded a frame around my main image. Did a little bit of paper piecing to dress my old man as well.

New Traditions

This page was CASEd from a project made by an Artisan Award winner last year. Her page was traditional scrapbooking, but I copied the look using a page protector. Her page was so perfectly executed, I didn't change much from the original version because I liked it so much.

I used Project Life cards that were offered in last year's Holidays catalogue (now retired).

 

 

Project Life: Do Not Open Before Christmas

This card was inspired by the Merry Monday challenge #170 and Mojo Monday Sketch #414. The shape of the Mojo sketch reminded me of Project Life cards so I decided to use a Hello December 2015 Project Life card to create the backpiece. The sentiment was stamped from the Oh, What Fun stamp set and I added the holly image from the same set since it was the theme of the Merry Monday challenge. I added a red sequin in between the two images. I then die-cut the image using the square card Framelits from the Project Life Paper clips Thinlits.

I added two pieces of patterned paper: the striped paper is from the Home for the Holidays Designer Series pâper pack and the Tip Top Taupe with polka dots from the 2015-2017 In Color Paper Stack.

The background cardstock was embossed with the Softly Falling Embossing Folder. I just love how pretty and delicate this one is. I'm definitely recommending this one as a Holidays Catalogue favorite, along with the Hello December 2015 PL cards (whether you scrapbook or not).

Christmas Warmth

Just playing around with the new supplies from the 2015 Holidays Catalogue. That Home for Christmas Suite is really tickling my fancy! Everything made with it just turns out so cute! This card doesn't need much explanations since everything it pretty straightforward on it. I should simply note that the vertical stripe is actually a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock that was covered with a piece of Winter Wonderland Designer Washi Tape. There's three rolls in the kit and all of them have gold patterns on them - just yummy!

By the way, the base of the Home for Christmas Designer Series Paper is vanilla, so I pulled out my Very Vintage Designer Buttons and have been using them together. (Thought I'd point this out since those buttons are hard to pair with white-based patterned papers.)

Little Elf

Could those Doodlebug Designs papers be any more perfect for those Holidays pictures? They were taken last Christmas, after my niece received an elf costume from her grandma. I love the picture of her admiring herself in the full-length mirror. She seemed so pleased! 

I used the Project Life Hello December 2015 stamp set to stamp the little tree banner (upper left corner), the trim border (upper center), the red bow on the bottom right panel and the grey banner at the bottom. The top left picture was punched with the Triple Corner Punch, but here's my warning to you: I found it doesn't really punch neatly in pictures, as it does in cardstock. So keep that in mind...

For the title, I used Real Red Foil Paper and the alphabet die we carried in the last catalogue (and that retired before I even had a chance to use them, so I'm making up for it now). That cute elf image is from an older stamp set that I've kept. The image tied in nicely with my theme, so I stamped the image in Jet Black StazOn on watercolor paper and colored it using a blender pen and inks.

Fangs for the Memories

One of the DTGD challenges was to pull out one of our oldest stamps. It was a great chance to revisit an old favorite. I wanted to use my new Happy Haunting Designer Series Paper (page 47 of Holidays Catalogue), so I selected Booglie Eyes, which I acquired a decade ago. I think the artwork of this one aged well and the Dracula image was perfect with the bat design of the paper I selected. I die-cut a box using the Hamburger Box Die. I also used the new Black Glimmer Paper (really excited about this addition to our line).

I got the idea to use my zigzag scissors to add a border to the box, and after using it, I thought it looked like little fangs, which fits perfectly with Dracula and the spiders. (If you look closely, you can see fangs on the both of them.) Speaking of that spider, how cute did it turn out? I know most people aren't really fond of spiders, but I think that one with its perplexed look is just cute enough to not inspire too much fright.

I used the ribbon slot found in the Triple Corner Punch (new in the Holidays catalogue as well) to slip the Tangelo Twist Satin Ribbon through my main image.

 

TIP: Let me share a tip with you when assembling the hamburger box. I heard it from another demonstrator and it helped me get better results when assembling the box. If you follow the instructions of the die, you're supposed to fold the corners in and glue the folds together. It's quite tricky because the room between the fold is small and none of the adhesives that we have work great for that. I tried mini glue dots and found the folds weren't flat against each other like I wanted them to and the gap bothered me. I then tried liquid glue but had a hard time not having any ooze out, plus I had to keep my fingers on it while it dryed and it took more time to assemble the box than I would have liked.

So what's the trick? Simply snip one of the sides on the fold line and glue the tab inside like you would any other box. WAY easier. WAY prettier corners. WAY faster results. And since we now have the Fine Tip Glue Pen, this is what I used to get in those tight corners. It has great hold!

Under the Sea

This is another card that was made during the Dare to Get Dirty challenge week. I combined a couple of challenges, one calling for a sea scene and another one centered around a technique that was new to me.

You ink the background with your ink pads, in a direct to paper manner, and then you spritz water on the paper, use Perfect Pearls pigment (which I didn't have so I took a chance with Pearl Ex and it worked just fine) and then you place a stencil on your cardstock and let it dry for a while. Here, I used the polka dot stencil from Stampin' Up! and it gave me a cool bubble-like background. The bottom part is a mix of vellum die-cut with the Wave CutUp from The Cat's Pajamas and torn Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper from Stampin' Up! I also added a knot out of the clear tinsel trim SU! used to sell (I love that stuff, I should have gotten two rolls instead of one when I snatched it in the Clearance Rack section...).

The sequins are leftover sequins from the Watercolor Wishes Card Kit (which I strongly recommend because it is awesome!).

Flurry of Happiness All Year Long

The starting point of today's card was the ColourQ challenge #306 and the MFT sketch #244. I thought the soft colours with the dash of black could look cool paired with the new snowflake set called Flurry of Wishes (available on page 25 of the Holiday Catalogue).

The sentiment was embossed in Black Stampin' Emboss powder on Pool Party cardstock and the top of the tag was punched with the Ornate Tag Topper Punch. I used two pieces of cotton ribbon at top: Whisper White and Rich Razzleberry, then added Rhinestones on each side. At the bottom, I created a banner piece out of Silver Glimmer Cardstock and glued three hearts that were left on my desk from a previous project. (They were die-cut with the heart border from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits set.)

The background piece was stamped with snowflakes in Wisteria Wonder ink first, then I used my heat tool to dry the ink thoroughly, before rubbing the cardstock with the Embossing Buddy, stamping the big snowflake with VersaMark ink and embossing it with Iridescent Ice Stampin' Emboss Powder.

To finish off the project, I added sequins that I had leftover from the Watercolor Wishes Project Kit. They are shimmery Pool Party sequins so they matched the colors perfectly.

For my card base, I used Whisper White Thick Cardstock so my card would be sturdier. Don't forget we sell this thicker white cardstock on page 149 of the Annual Catalogue.

First Pine Tree

Sharing today another page I put together using the Project Life Hello December 2015 cards, stamp set and accessories (which can be purchased all together at 15% off as a bundle). For this page, I added a couple of other items, including a piece of paper from the Home for Christmas Designer Series Paper (the music score background and the striped paper), and a piece of Mint Macaron paper from the 2015-2017 In Color paper stack. I also used the Woodland embossing folder to create a background for one of the squares. You'll notice that some of the new embossing folders that include a pattern that has a direction are now offered in 6" x 6". This is a wonderful change because it allows to emboss the pattern whether you have an horizontal card or a vertical one. Or in this case, it allowed me to emboss on a 6" x 6" square without any seams. Great news for those Project Life page protectors!

Pictures show my Christmas tree from last year, the first natural tree I ever got. I was so happy with how it looked and how nice it smelled in the house. I decided on a whim I wanted to get one when I found a rebate online for half off on a full tree, and the offer included home delivery. That was the part that sealed the deal for me! Because the theme of the page was the tree, I selected PL cards that had trees on them, and also used the tree scenery from the Sleigh Ride Edgelits to die-cut Gold glimmer paper.
