So, one of the new items from the 2015-2016 annual catalogue I was most excited about right off the bat was the Watercolor Wishes Card Kit, which is also available in French with a translated set. The sentiments are very versatile, written in a cool font and they cover all kinds of events, so just the stamp set alone was enough to make me want the kit. (See it on page 80 of the catalogue to know what I'm talking about.)
But then when I went to place my first catalogue order, I discovered that the kit would only be available in July. Oh... So I held off until placing my Holidays catalogue preorder to get the kit as well. I'll let you, I'm apparently not the only stamper who thought this kit was the bomb because it went on backorder pretty quickly. That's where I got Lucky, because the French kit was still available. *huge smile*
So then, when I received my preorder, I was working on the Dare to Get Dirty challenges posted on Splitcoast Stampers and thought I could use one of the cards from the kit to make my own version of a personalized card. So I did and here's how the card turned out:
Cute, huh? But here's the deal. I fully intended on either using the contents of the kit to make "fancier" designs adding some of my own supplies or put together the cards later, but once I had cracked the kit open, curiosity got the best of me and I was tempted to put together one of them, since the pictures in the kit were so cute. But then I wanted to make one more, and one more and you know what ended up happening? I put together the whole kit in one sitting! It took a good 2, maybe 3 hours overall, which tells me that there's great value in this kit: enough work to make it fun, but not so complicated that the kit will sit unused. And you know what the best part is? The finished cards are truly beautiful. This is one of my favorite kits we've ever had, and I really, truly encourage you to have a closer look at it and order one of your own. It's totally worth the price. I'll try and take pictures of the finished cards to share. I think I've personnalized three or four of them at the most, switching things around and using leftovers from the kit once everything was put together, but for the most part, I was truly happy with the suggested designs and thought they didn't need anything more than what was already on there.
The full content of the kit is detailed on page 155 of the catalogue. On top of the stamp set (which you get to keep and reuse afterwards), you get printed cards in assorted sizes and envelopes to match, washi tape, wooden elements, die-cuts, two Stampin' Spot ink pads, a clear block and my favorite part: pearl sequins. I'm thinking of asking SU! to sell those separately because they shimmer so exquisitely on the projects! That's what took the cards over the edge for me.
