Stampin' Up!'s Sheltering Tree - Simple Thoughts

This card was inspired by a project I saw on Mary Fish's blog. The crisp, simple elegance of this card really spoke to me, so I recreated her project. One detail I added: the shadow underneath the leaves. This was done by sticking the leaves photopolymer stamp upside down on the clear block (backside of stamp up) and inking it. Neat trick, right?

Stampin' Up!'s Retiring List: Around the World & Just Sayin'

Today's card is inspired by Colour Me Challenge #68 and the Deconstructed Sketch #198. The challenges were paired with some of the supplies that will be retiring from the Stampin' Up! catalogue at the end of May. One of the sets I'm most sad to see go is Just Sayin' (and the matching Framelits *pout*) It's a cool, fun set that I've used quite a lot on its own or paired with other sets. Here, I paired it with Around the World. I also wish the Dictionary background stamp wasn't leaving, but unfortunately it is.

TIP: As I was putting the card together, I decided I wanted to stamp the card base with something, so I pulled the arrow image from the Around the World stamp set and created a frame around the card with it. Once I layered the other elements on top of the card base, I felt it was too busy, though. To save on work and cardstock, I then simply folded the card inside out so that the frame is now inside of the card. That way, the inside is decorated and I was able to start over with my card front without losing any cardstock!

Stampin' Up!'s Retiring List: Baby, We've Grown - My Baby

The colours of this card were inspired by a beautiful flower bouquet inspiration picture I saw online. The soft candy colours inspired me to make a baby card, which was perfect because the Baby, We've Grown stamp set is on the retiring list. The design of the card comes from the Just Add Ink challenge #260. I decided to make a long tall card (3-1/4" x 6-1/2"). The bunny image was stamped on watercolor paper with Black StazOn ink and watercolord using reinkers and a blending pen.

By the way, this might be the set of In Colors I'm most sad to see retired to date. The last time I was this sad was the year of Wisteria Wonder, Lucky Limeade, Calypso Coral, Island Indigo and Pool Party, but then four of those five colours made it in our regular collection, so I didn't have to stay sad for long. I've used the current In Colors quite a lot and I'm sad to see them go. Don't forget the cardstock, ink, reinker and matching accessories are only available until stocks run out, so order any extras you might want as soon as possible.

Stampin' Up!'s Amazing Birthday

I received my order placed during the free shipping promotion and couldn't wait to try out my new rubber. The design was inspired by Mojo Monday #394 and the colours came from the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge #352.

The main image comes from the Amazing Birthday stamp set. I stamped it first on Basic Grey cardstock and embossed the whole image in Pool Party Stampin' Emboss Powder. I then stamped the same image two other times on scraps of Basic Grey cardstock and embossed them with Gumball Green powder (already retired) and Smoky Slate powder. The first word was punched out with the Small Oval Punch (retiring). I used the same powders to emboss the surprise circle image and created little accents behind the main image.

The polka dot paper was created by using the Dots & Stripes Decorative Masks and doodling dots using a Wild Wasabi Stampin' Write Marker. Then I used a piercing template from the Essentials pack to add piercing around some of the dots. The cardstock was then matted with a Silver Foil Sheet.

The white button is actually a button from the Sweet Dreams Designer Buttons (Occasions catalogue) pack that I turned over to hide the pattern and used the backside of.

I haven't touched my stamping stuff in ages, it feels like. I spent the last couple of weeks shopping for a new car and then headed to Quebec City for a meeting, so now that things are somewhat settling down, I decided to use the new stamps I got during the Free Shipping promotion offered by SU! I used the Deconstructed Sketch #197 as inspiration.

It also happens that the retiring list came out today... and this stamp set happens to be on it. Oh, well! I decided to pair it with other items that will soon be retiring.

Stampin' Up!'s Retiring List: Maritime DSP and Bitty Banners

A little departure from my usual style with simpler cards. I'm actually pretty pleased with how they turned out. I started out with a piece of Maritime Designer Series Paper (which is on the retiring list) and paired it with the matching Sea Street stamp set. I stamped the red cord on the left side of the piece of paper and added the fishies in Pool Party ink.

Then, I couldn't decide between two design ideas, so I decided to make both. The first card uses the retiring Let Your Hair Down hostess stamp set. I inked it with Stampin' Write markers (Real Red and Night of Navy), punch it out with a circle punch, matted it with Silver Foil Sheets and added two Real Red Sweet Dots.

For the second card, I stamped the octopus in Night of Navy and handcut it, Then, I used the Bitty Banners stamp set and matching Framelits (both retiring) to create a little banner the octopus could hold.

The Envelope Punch Board was used to make matching envelopes.
