Looking through my older Design Series papers, I found the Snow Festival Designer Series Papers from last year's Holidays catalogue. I spotted the back of one sheet of paper, which had a grid of 12 square images. I thought they would make great inserts for a Project Life page so I worked on a double-page layout... which I'll be sharing with you later as I don't have pictures of the pages yet!
That being said, since I had pulled out a bunch of matching supplies and cardstock, I thought I might as well make one card as well while I had everything laid out and hence was born this project. I drew inspiration from the Sweet Sunday Sketch #244.
The idea behind the sentiment tag came from some tags I saw at a local scrapbook store today during a run I made with my friend, who needed supplies for a wedding album she's making for a friend. I liked the idea of the tail of the tag being decorated with a touch of glimmer paper and thought the look would be really easy to reproduce using the Chevron Border Punch. I also made a sparkly corner using two square punches to get the right angles.
My favorite detail, though, is the star on the nutcracker's hat. It was created using the star punch from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack on Gold Foil Paper with a Baked Brown Sugar star sequin from the 2013-2015 In Color Sequins pack layered over it. Cool, huh?
I should take this opportunity to point out that the nutcracker's mustache was die-cut using the Mustache Framelits die from the Annual Catalogue. Did you know it matches the Santa Stache set? I guess it makes sense, but I had totally missed out on that when I preordered the stamp set. It was when Erica Cerwin shared this detail on her blog that I had a "duh!" moment!!

While the supplies were out, I also got the idea to use one of the die-cuts from the Design Series paper to make a cute 4-1/4" x 4-1/4" card. It came together really quickly: I just stamped a sentiment on the die-cut with Gumball Green ink, matted the image with Primrose Petals cardstock, then I added patterned paper on a Gumball Green cardbase. I added Cherry Cobbler Chevron Ribbon and Gumball Green Satin Ribbon on top. Finally, a star punched out of Silver Glimmer Paper was added to the main image, and a matching envelope was made using the Envelope Punch Board.
