Featuring Calling All Heroes - My Stamping Hero

I was really eager to get the Calling All Heroes stamp set because I think it's unique and differen. I will admit I'm not that fond of photopolymer, I still love rubber much better (and wood-mount better than clear-mount as well) but this set was cute enough for me to go for it anyway. The set includes a full alphabet with a cartoon-like font that allows you to create your own sentiments, either inside the bubbles included in the set or directly on your card. Lots of creative options right there! I made this card thinking I can send it to someone from my downline to congratulate them on their sales and recruitment. I therefore paired the first set with the Let Your Hair Down hostess stamp set, since the sentiment reads, "You Always Amaze Me."

Featuring Endless Birthday Wishes - It's All About YOUR Day

I hadn't stamped in two weeks and I was long overdue. Today's card was inspired by some new photopolymer stamps I have received in a new order this week, namely Endless Birthday Wishes (along with the new Blendabilities colors I was missing to complete my collection - they're going to be available to customers on August 1st to stay tuned). I really like those mix and matches font sentiments SU!'s including in their photopolymer stamp sets, and the birthday cake and dot images are also super adorable. To get started with my design, I drew inspiration from the ColourQ challenge #251 and the Nacho Average sketch #99. For the back of the card, I used another photopolymer stamp set (this one offered in the annual catalogue) called Dotty Angles. It was stamped in Blackberry Bliss on matching cardstock, one of our new 2014-2016 In Color. It should be pointed out that since two of the colours in the cQc combo were retired, I changed the combo for something very similar using current colours­. I also substituted Blushing Bride to Pretty in Pink.

The cake was colored with Blendabilities markers and I wanted a brushstroke look on it so I made sure to go over the lines when coloring. (Just in case you thought my coloring was getting sloppy!) In Color sequins were added at the top of the image. The mat was embossed using the Chevron embossing folder, and Sweet Dots in matching colors were added to the side.

I used Melon Mambo Core'dinations cardstock for the point underneath for texture (the Core'dinations cardstock packs are available in the Clearance Rack at a deeply reduced price, so I encourage you to get some, either for your 12 x 12 scrapbooking or to add texture to your cards). A piece of Calypso Coral chevron ribbon was added as well. Full-Size Drink

So after I was done with yesterday's scrapbook page, I kept my paper scraps close so that I could make a card with them when time allowed. The Mojo Monday sketch #352 was just perfect for that so I looked in my stamp collection for something that could work with the colors and decided on Cathy Caffeine.

This stamp set comes with its own sentiment ("Coffee - the most important meal of the day") but I wanted a French card so I looked in my reference biner (which is not complete but I am slowly building so I have a quick reference to my stamps) to find something that could work. When I spotted "Let's drink to your birthday" from SU!'s Happy Hour set, I knew that would work great and that I could stamp it on the side of my image.

The Mojo Monday sketch calls for a long skinny card, which is one of my favorite card formats. I usually do the 3-1/4 x 6-1/2 format since I still have envelopes from SU! in that format, but this was too narrow for my image, so I pulled out the Envelope Punch Board and looked at the card sizes printed on it to find a card format that would work with my image and that would ensure I could make a matching envelope for afterwards. At the risk of repeating myself, I LOVE that tool!

My sister had some profesionnal pictures taken of my niece and she gave me some afterwards. My absolute favorite is the one of her in a tiger hat - she looks so darn adorable.

I had been wanting to put this picture on a page but I was waiting to find the right sketch and papers because I wanted to make the picture justice. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I found a sketch in the July sketches of Page Maps, and the papers are ironically from an Halloween series, but by using the sides of the papers and the die-cuts that didn't have Halloween prints on them, I was able to keep the page generic. Aren't the colors fun?

Again, you'll notice I had fun with the new Stars & Hearts Decorative masks (p. 205) from Stampin' Up! This time, I used a dauber and ink to add stars to the background. It's funny, I was at first looking for my retired Confetti stamp set and couldn't find it anywhere so I had given up looking for it and figured I would just use the small star from the Simply Stars stamp set to create a background, but I wasn't as happy with that option because I wanted smaller stars. That's when I spotted the new masks at the back of my desk and remembered one of them had stars. Perfect! To get more depth, I went light on the inking with some of them and rubbed more ink in on some others, so I was able to get a variegated result with the same ink pad.

The chevrons were created with the Chevron Border punch, and the small stars and hearts came from the In Color Sequins pack.
