Stampin' Up!'s Life's Adventure - Girly Bike

Today's card was inspired by the Deconstructed Sketch #153 and Color Throwdown #294 challenges. I really liked the fun, vibrant colours and decided to pair them with the cute bike image from the new Life's Adventure Hostess set (offered in the 2014-2015 Catalogue). I colored the image with Stampin' Write markers to get a multicolored look.

Stampin' Up'!s Rev Up the Fun - Father's Day Ride

Someone at work requested a Father's Day card and I thought it would be a good chance to use my Rev Up the Fun stamp set before it retires. (Very sad to be losing that one - this was a great masculine stamp set, which I'll be holding onto for personal use.) I thought it was a good chance to use some of the new In Colors, namely Hello Honey and Lost Lagoon, paired with Soft Suede.

The background was created with stamps from the Groovy Grunge stamp set and Off the Grid stamp and the track image from the Rev Up the Fun stamp set. I used the distressing tool all around the cardstock to add texture.

The moto image was inked with Stampin' Write markers and the mage was die-cut using a Apothecary Accents Framelits die. Two Crushed Curry Designer buttons were added to the image.

I then proceeded to create my own washi tape using Vellum cardstock and the Tape It stamp set. I inked the images with Classic ink and embossed them with Clear Stampin' Emboss powder. I needed a Father's Day sentiment, so I reached for a long-retired hostess set called Tout en losange. I used a marker to ink only the part of the sentiment I wanted, then I tore the top of the cardstock for a distressed look.

Underneath the motorcycle image, I used a strip of Lost Lagoon cardstock, which I punched using the Chevron Border punch, and I lined the underside of the strip with a piece of 1-1/4" Burlap Ribbon. A Neutrals glimmer brad was added to the left of the strip.

Stampin' Up!'s Something For Baby - Pear Carriage

Something old, something new...

I combined the retiring Etcetera Designer Series Papers with the new Something for Baby stamp set. You know what the best part of this set is? Matching Framelits dies to cut out the image!! Cutting out this carriage image would be much more work if I had to do it by hand! Luckily, the Baby's First Framelits dies let me do it in seconds, and much more precisely that I could have done by hand!

This stamp set only contains image, so you can pair it with any sentiment set of your choice for more options. (This also means that you can get it in wood-mount if you want, which I did and it made me happy!) I picked a sentiment from the Beau petit chou stamp set.

The frame behind the carriage image was created with the Designer Frames embossing folders. I embossed a piece of Night of Navy cardstock and handcut it. (This one doesn't come with a Framelits die...) I added patterned paper in the center, and tied a piece of Victoria lace trim in between my two pieces of patterned paper.

Matching paper was used in combination with the Envelope Punch Board to make a matching envelope. As much as I like to hoard my beautiful paper, I'm trying to fight the urge to do so and use sheets to make matching envelope so that I can limit my mounting amount of paper.

The design of the card was inspired by the Monday Lunchtime Sketch #316.

Stampin' Up!'s In This Together - Cheers!

I was so excited when my Blendabilities markers got here, I just to color a quick image just to try them out. This was my first run with the markers, and I transformed my image into a quick card afterwards. I paired the girl image from the new In This Together stamp set with the Cheers sentiment from the Happy Hour stamp set, die-cut with the Word Bubbles Framelits dies. We have a new piercing template that matches those Framelits, and that matches the Scallop Tag punch as well, which I used for the main image. The frame was created with the On Film Framelits dies collection.

The Designer Series Paper used is Polka Dot Parade, and it is retiring with the 2013-2014 catalogue. The color combo came from my trusty Color Coach.

New Hostess Set and Blendabilities!

I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am about the Blendabilities markers! I have been anxiously waiting for their release ever since learning that SU! was planning on releasing alcohol markers in their official colors. I've preordered the available colors as soon as demos were able to and I'm waiting for the catalogue release to get the other colors.

I've paired the Blendabilities markers with a new stamp set we were also able to preorder called Life's Adventure. I should point out that the yellow Blendabilities I currently have are the Daffodil Delight trio, but the two darkest colors are similar enough to Summer Starfruit to match nicely, so I was able to use the Sweet Sorbet DSP (from Sale-A-Bration and color a matching image.

The other new item I used on this card is the Star punch which is part of the Itty Bitty Accents punch pack.

Stampin' Up!'s Fine Feathers - Cheers!

Stampin' Up!'s Birthday Cake - Make a Wish

This design stemmed from Freshly Made Sketch #135 and the Friday Mashup challenge #118 to use a retiring stamp. I chose the lovely Birthday Cake single stamp for my main image and paired it with the retiring sentiment set Sweet Essentials. The Designer Series paper is I Am Me, which as you can see, works great for non-travel-related projects.

 

The border was created using the Tasteful Trims die and adding So Saffron Candy Dots to it. A Calypso Coral Chevron ribbon was added at the bottom, and a matching envelope was made using the Envelope Punch Board. The main sentiment was embossed with White Stampin' Emboss Powder and die-cut using the Bitty Banners Framelits dies.

Stampin' Up!'s Great Sport - Shameless CASE

This card is a shameless CASE from the talented Erica Cerwin. I changed the colors to make mine a masculine card and modified certain embellies from her original card, but the rest of the card is very much copied from hers. Her rockin' design just totally inspired me and I really wanted to pull out my Great Sport stamp set to recreate her fun card. I'm sad to report that this stamp set is retiring, because it was a good one to have on hand for masculine cards. (I'll definitely be keeping it for my personal use, I just won't be able to sell it to customers anymore.)

The card background was created by using a sheet of This and That Epic Day Designer Series paper on which I stamped and embossed the swirls from the Everything Eleanor stamp set with Pool Party Stampin' Emboss powder. (Have you noticed how much I've been using this colored embossing powder? It goes with everything and looks awesome!) The main image was embossed with Gumball Green Stampin' Emboss powder (from last year's Holidays catalogue, but you can use the Wild Wasabi one from the current catalogue for a look that will be practically identical). I spritzed the background with a spritzer filled with Basic Grey reinker. The middle of the stamp was decorated with a circle punched out of Silver Glimmer paper and the star was punched out of Silver Metallic Paper. I love the contrast of the both and how it ties in with the Basic Grey cardstock as well. The border's edge was die-cut with the Finishing Touches Edgelits. Rhinestone Basic Jewels and Candy Dots were added here and there, as well as a piece of Natural Chevron Ribbon and Silver Baker's Twine on top. A piece of Gumball Green DSP and the Envelope Punch Board were used to create a matching envelope.

Stampin' Up!'s Hello, Lovely - Red Flower

Aren't those papers just so pretty? They're from the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack sold in the Occasions catalogue (which will be ending at the end of the month). I've loved using it - everything I've created with it just comes out fresh and crisp. 

For this card, I paired the papers with the retiring Hello, Lovely stamp set. I got this one as a gift from Stampin' Up!, as Leadership I believe. I probably wouldn't have ordered this one for myself since it was not translated to French, but I will say I have gotten an awful lot of use out of it. It's a great set, both for cardmaking and scrapbooking. it might get a little overlooked in the catalogue, but the chevron oval, flower and chevron patterns will give you many options of uses. I was debating which sentiment to add to this card and finally decided on "Make a Wish" from the Sweet Essentials sentiment stamp set because I always seem to need more birthday cards since those are the ones I use and sell the most.

Stampin' Up!'s Create a Cupcake: Who's Counting?

Another creation using stuff from the retiring list. The design is a simple, classic one, but those are often the ones that produce the best results. I thought the numbered Designer paper would work great on a birthday card. In the past, I had always paired the Create a Cupcake stamp set with bolder patterned papers, but I do like how it worked out paired with vintagey patterned papers. And isn't that envelope made out of the Soho Subway Designer Series paper just rockin' ?

Stampin' Up!'s Delicate Doilies + En français + Viola's Lace

The inspiration picture posted for the Just Add Ink #213 challenge really inspired me. I liked the soft colours, but mostly the gold chevron and polka dot patterns! It reminded me of the Fancy Foil Designer Vellum, so it became the start of my card. I tried to make a chevron pattern with the stripe sheet without success, so I simply stamped the En Français background stamp on a piece of Pistachio Pudding cardstock and then added Big Shot adhesive sheets on the back of my vellum before cutting it into strips. I alternated stripes and dots over my stamped background.

(By the by, the big Shot adhesive sheets are retired, so I suggest you add some to your stash before they're gone because they are PERFECT to adhere vellum, as it creates an even coating that doesn't show through.)

I then proceeded to create the main image. I stamped the Delicate Doilies in Pistachio Pudding, making sure to stamp off the ink on some of the central images, and then I added a sentiment ("to my wonderful mom") from the Delightful Dozen stamp set in the center and embossed it with Pool Party powder.

I die-cut a frame out of Primrose Petals Core'dinations cardstock (which I love to use to add texture, even if I don't always sand it to create a multicolored look) using the On Film Framelits dies. I added the frame with Stampin' Dimensionals, and decorated it with a Boutique Details accent. The sentiment block was matted with Gold Metallic Paper (from the Occasions catalogue).

The card needed something at the bottom, so I added a Primrose Petal satin ribbon bow. It still wasn't enough for my tastes, so I decided to create a fringe with the fringe scissors. I slipped it underneath the ribbon and didn't like how square the top looked, so I pulled it out again, reached for my unmounted Viola's Lace wheel and added the image to the top of the cardstock. Much better! I then spotted the Gold Sequin trim on my desk and decided it would tie in fabulously with the rest so I added that on top.

Finally, a matching envelope was made out of Primrose Petals Designer Series Paper (from the In Color paper stack) using the Envelope Punch Board. Some leftover Retro Fresh Journaling Tags were lying on my desk and I got the idea to use one (cut to a smaller size) on the envelope as a place to write the address. I also found a leftover punched heart in Pool Party Core'dinations cardstock, so it went on the envelope as well, with a vellum strip leftover from the project. This is the reason why you should always decorate a matching envelope while you are working on the card, because you have everything on hand already pulled out and it's a great way to use small leftovers instead of putting them straight in the trash.

Stampin' Up!'s Simply Stars + Tag It

I woke up with a very clear idea for a card on Saturday morning, so I started my weekend with a little bit of stamping. I paired the Clean & Simply #291 sketch and Pals Paper Arts #202 challenges to create the following card.

A narrow stripe was created on my Crumb Cake card base by masking the two sides with Post-It notes and sponging Bermuda Bay ink directly on the card, before stamping stars from the Simply Stars stamp set in both Bermuda Bay ink and Versamark, and then embossing them with Iridescent Ice Stampin' Emboss powder.  Both sides of this stripe were then embossed with the Needlepoint embossing folders (which I am mourning badly - love those!), and I added some splatters to the card base using a stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set in Crumb Cake ink.

The main image, from the Tag It stamp set, was stamped in Real Red and embossed with Clear Stampin' Emboss powder. The tag was die-cut using a Framelits die from the Chalk Talk kit, and I added a big star from the Simply Stars stamp set on top of the trophy, which I topped with a jumbo rhinestone.

Underneath, two pennants were layered: one cut out of Silver glimmer paper and the second one out of Crumb Cake Designer paper. Piercing was added around the smaller banner. A matching Crumb Cake envelope was stamped.

Stampin' Up!'s You're Amazing + Modern Medley

I received some Jo Malone bath products for Christmas and kept the beautiful ribbon to work into one of my designs. I kept thinking it's go great with the Modern Medley Designer Series Papers. Since they are retiring, I felt the urge to use them this week. I found the Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge and thought the hot air balloon from the You're Amazing stamp set would work great in the oval die-cut. This card couldn't be simpler: just a few layered pieces of papers and cardstock, my main image embossed in black powder for added interest and the sentiment, embossed as well and adorned with two Sweet Dots from the Neutrals pack. A wooden heart from the Essentials Wooden Accents was also glued onto the hot air balloon image. A design stampers with any level of experience could sink their teeth into!

Lean On Me, Friend

I was lucky enough to win this adorable new stamp set from Cat's Pajamas called Lean on me. I was eager to get it inked when I received it and I looked through my French sentiments for someone PJ could "lean on." I found this block sentiment in the World Wonder stamp set from SU! which reads, "He who finds a friend finds a treasure." I think the dimensions of the two images work just perfectly together.
