You are getting a two-fer today: a scrapbook page AND a card! I just love using the scraps left over from a scrapbook page to make a card whenever time allows. It usually doesn't because pages are really time-consuming for me, but yesterday, I spent a good chunk of the day stamping and was totally feeling those Authentique patterned papers so once I was finished with my Page Maps-inspired layout (April sketches), I used the Wanna Sketch? challenge (#14) to make a Holiday card.
The layout shows picture of my last Christmas office party in Quebec City. Our selected theme that year was the Crystal Ball, a lounge-inspired theme with blues and whites along with bling-inspired ornaments. The Authentique papers couldn't have matched my pictures any better!
The background was created by stamping images from the retired Snowflakes stamp set in Versamark and brushing various colours of Pearl Ex pigment on the snowflakes (Violet, Interference Blue, Interference Violet, Pearl). It turned out better than I could have hoped for! Of course, Pearl Ex never shows off as well in pictures because they do not capture the subtle shimmer it has, but it does play off beautifully off of the purple textured cardstock.
The beautiful silver glimmer snowflakes are actually from a retired scrapbook kit SU! had in a Holidays catalogue two years ago. I missed out on buying it while it was available but managed to snag a kit off of the Clearance rack later. I'm still searching for pictures that would work well with the kit, but in the meantime, I thought I could use some of the glimmer snowflakes on this page because they were the perfect way to finish off the page. As I was looking for embellishments, I also stumbled unto my old Vanilla Hodgepodge pieces and the retired Pretties kit, so I used the pearls and the hairpin to accent my vanilla poinsettia and part of my title. Dazzling Diamonds glitter and Clear chunky glitter were used to frame the die-cuts at the right. I used my Stampin' Write Markers (Perfect Plum and Night of Navy) to handwrite my journaling and also to draw a frame around the sticker letters to make them stand out more. (Made the world of a difference!)

As for the card, I knew I wanted to use the Chalet enchanté stamp set to match the loghouse pattern on my paper. I stamped the house image in Night of Navy on Perfect Plum cardstock, and used my two-way glue pen to add Dazzling Diamonds glitter to the roof of the house for beautiful, sparkly snow.
The Silver baker's twine was used at the top of my other piece of patterned paper, and I used one of the die-cuts from the matching paper collection to create my sentiment block. I'm really pleased with how it turned out, especially since it was a late-night creation and my brain sometimes turn into mush when stamping late...
