Loving Mew

This is a fairly simple card I put together fast using a sketch shared on the Cat's Pajamas gallery­. The Pool Party cardstock was stamped with the Fine Lace background stamp from SU! and matted with Silver cardstock.

The cat image was stamped once directly on the white cardstock using Pool Party ink, and then a second time in Midnight Muse on a scrap of white cardstock, then handcut and added to the main image using dimensional adhesive.

Stampin' Up!'s Just Sayin' - Birthday Bubble

The Just Sayin' stamp set might be my favorite stamp set from the Occasions catalogue. It's fun, trendy and whimsical and I find myself gravitating towards it already (even though I have plenty of new stamping stuff to choose from). This design was inspired by a card seen in the Stamp It! Card Challenges book. I changed the colours to reflect this week's Friday Mashup challenge colours.

The background was created with a new embossing folder sold in the Occasions catalogue, called Scallops, and Crumb Cake Core'dinations cardstock (told you I'd be using this stuff a lot!). The Just Sayin' set has matching Framelits, which is a life saver because those bubbles would be a pain to hand cut. I use the Framelits to die-cut my stamped image as well as additional bubbles die-cut out of Core'dinations cardstock for texture. A wood bubble from the Essentials Wooden Accents was also added.

To create the background on the Bermuda Bay Core'dination cardstock, I stuck various images from the Just Sayin' stamp set on a big acrylic block and used it as a background image.

Happy New Year to all of my readers! I hope you are enjoying the downtime and that 2014 brings only the best to you all!

 

I guess sharing a new year card would be appropriate for the occasion. And how about sharing not one, but two! These were done a little while ago and I figured I might as well make two while I was cutting cardstock away. The sentiment set is sold on page 33 of the Holidays catalogue and is called Best New Year. (Don't forget the Holidays catalogue ends tomorrow, so make sure you've ordered everything you cannot live without.) So the sentiment was stamped in VersaMark on Real Red cardstock and embossed with white powder, then I added the wavy border in Night of Navy at both ends. The first version was embellished with white Designer buttons (from the Neutrals pack) and the second one with glimmer brads. I created borders for each using glimmer paper - red on the first, silver on the second. I used the Scallop Trim punch for one of the borders.

On the first card, the background was created by stamping the sentiment stamp repeatedly, using the Stamp-a-Ma-jig to line everything properly (with Bermuda Bay ink on matching cardstock). On the second card, I used Bermuda Bay Core'dinations cardstock, which I embossed with the Stylish Stripes embossing folder and the Big Shot before sanding the raised patterns using a sanding block. I think you are going to see me use a lot of Core'dinations cardstock in the future, as I have really missed the textured cardstock and I am happy to have the Core'dinations to add that bit of extra texture that can really make a difference in a design.

White medium envelopes were stamped in a matching design to finish off the set.
