Stampin' Up!'s Santa's List - Checking It Twice

I was eager to play with this beautiful stamp (Santa's List) set since I don't own it myself. I kept things simple and stamped Santa in Soft Suede ink on Crumb Cake cardstock. I used Season of Style DSP for the background, embossed the Soft Suede cardstock with the Manuscript embossing folder to go with Santa's List and then got the idea of making a scroll for the sentiment block. Added a little bit of baker's twine in the back and voilà! A simple but beautiful Christmas card that could easily be mass-produced.

Sidebar note: Although the supplies list in the catalogue states that the green found in the Season of Style DSP should be Old Olive, it appears that it is indeed Old Olive in the 12 x 12 paper, but the colour is closer to Gumball Green (or Wild Wasabi could work as well) in the small paper pack. Just a heads-up when matching your paper...

The design is inspired by the Deconstructed Sketch #124, and the main image, by the Merry Monday challenge #81 (use Santa on your card).

Stampin' Up!'s Timeless Talk - Hello There!

I absolutely loved the colours in this week's Inspired By challenge (#94) and just jad to make something inspired by it. The card design also came from another challenge, namely the Clean & Simple Sketch #264.

Some details to note:

• I added mini silver brads and a Candy Dot to the phone.
• I cut the bottom of my main panel with the Adorning Accents Framelits die and used the piercing template to add piercing along the scallops. Love those templates: you can use them over and over again on all of your projects, so they pay for themselves!
• The Bermuda Bay strip was stamped with the Mosaic Madness set. The Stamp-a-Ma-Jig will be your best friend if you like things straight!
• Make sure to stamp your sentiment BEFORE running the cardstock through the Big Shot with the embossing folder. It is easier to stamp on the cardstock when it's flat!

Stampin' Up!'s Snow Day

This card was inspired by the color combo from Create with Connie and Mary (#274) and Viva la Verve sketch (October #5).Wondering where that sentiment comes from? It's part of a longer sentiment stamp which is part of the Parfum de Noël set. I inked only the first three words with an Early Espresso marker and die-cut the sentiment banner with a die from the Bitty Banners Framelits set.

The main image was created with the Snow Day stamp set, which is found in the Holidays catalogue. I added three Soft Sky button from the Subtles Designer buttons pack. The Raspberry Ripple cardstock was stamped repeatedly with the "Warm Wishes" stamp from the set and matted with Silver cardstock. A matching silver ribbon (also from Holidays catalogue) bow was added to the sentiment banner.

Stampin' Up!'s Festive Flurry

This beautiful card was made very fast thanks for the Festive Flurry stamp set and matching Framelits dies. The background came from the Winter Frost paper stack, and I matted it with a piece of Silver paper from the Holidays catalogue, a single step that adds a lot of wow!

The snowflake was embellished with a lot of rhinestones and a sentiment banner stamped with the Exprimez-vous hostess set. I let the snowflake hang off the edge of the card for added interest. Since it made the card widder, I made a matching envelope out of the Neutrals Designer paper pack using my just-received Envelope Punch Board. Gosh, I love that tool! I already loved making matching envelope with the Diagonal plate, but this thing is heavenly! I cannot wait to show it to people in action. All the dimensions are written directly on the plate of the punch and it even has unconventional card dimensions, which was great for my card.

Stampin' Up!'s Perfect Blend and Gorgeous Grunge (at 25% off!)

The stamp set Gorgeous Grunge got on my wish list the minute I saw the new annual catalogue, and I was fortunate enough to receive it at convention. Now, you are fortunate enough to be able to buy it at 25% off... but you have to place an order before Monday October 28th to qualify!

During the retreat, I made sure to grab the Perfect Blend stamp set because I have been meaning to get that one since the catalogue launch. I also thought it would make a perfect match with Gorgeous Grunge wince the splatters look like coffee splatters. For the color combo, I simply reached for the Color Coach and found my inspiration there. The embellishments were kept to a minimum: a safety pin and button  brads from the Vintage Trinkets embellishment pack, Cherry Cobbler Chevron ribbon and a Vintage brad. The corners were rounded with the Corner Rounder punch, and the coffee cup was stamped three times on Cherry Cobbler, Soft Suede and Sahara Sand cardstock, then paper pieced.

This simple card would be great for a man or for anyone addicted to their coffee.

Stampin' Up!'s Birthday Cake and Morning Post Numbers

I went to a stamping retreat this weekend and spent almost two complete days stamping, so I have a ton of new projects to share with you. I am also happy to report that this might have been the first time I've been stamping away from home where I have been so productive. I tried to keep the stuff I brought to a reasonable minimum and I am happy to report that I had planned well. The only thing I really missed were my ink pads. I had brought my marker set instead and it worked out fine, but those bigger images take forever to ink with markers!

Anywho, I had printed the weekly challenges from various blogs to bring as inspiration and the first card I am sharing with you today was inspired by both the Mojo Monday Sketch challenge (#316) and the Friday Mashup challenge (#133). It was a great chance to ink my new Birthday Cake single stamp. I like the sleek modern look of this image and I think it looks great paired with the suggested color combo.

The cute-font sentiment is from a hostess set called Exprimez-vous. On my background cardstock, I stamped numbers at random from the Morning Post Numbers stamp set (Holidays catalogue, p. 36) to create a background.

The background was embossed with the Mosaic embossing folder, and the Crushed Curry cardstock was first die-cut with a Deco Labels Collection Framelits and embossed with the Stylish Stripes embossing folder (also from the Holiday Catalogue). A piece of Designer tape from the Epic Day collection was added to the image block, as well as a line of rhinestones on the cake and a butterfly punched out of Silver glimmer paper, on which I glued a Basic Grey Candy Dot. (Tip: I added a drop of Multipurpose Liquid Glue behind the Candy Dot to make sure it would stay in place on the glimmer paper, because not every adhesive work on the glittery surface. Liquid glue or Crystal Effects are your best bets.)

A piece of Crushed Curry Chevron ribbon was tied around the card, and three little banners were die-cut out of the beautiful Silver paper (sold in the Holidays catalogue as well) using the Bitty Banners Framelits.

Stampin' Up!'s Zoo Babies - 25% off!!!

One of the sets currently offered at 25% off (until Monday the 28th only) is Zoo Babies, which I used to make this cute card here. Isn't this set so sweet?

What I also want to point out to your attention is the Designer paper that I used, which comes from the I am Me pack. I would be wiling to bet that most of you didn't look twice at that paper pack since it looks travel-themed, but really, the papers are full of fun, modern designs that can be used for any kind of cards (masculine, baby, birthday, etc.). I promise you there'll be more to come with this paper in the future, but for now, here's how it was used to make a baby card.

To create the three-color ribbon, I simply adhered a piece of Calypso Coral ruffled ribbon underneath a piece of So Saffron taffeta ribbon, and a piece of Pool Party ruffled ribbon as well. The sentiment was created by layering three punched pieces: Label Bracket (Holiday catalogue), Small Scallop Circle and Small Oval. The sentiment comes from the Petite Pairs set.

À vos risques et périls!

Here's a fun Halloween card that was inspired by the Fab Friday sketch challenge (#29). It gave me the chance to use my new Chevron punch and the beautiful Gold paper sold in the Holiday mini. I layered the punched chevrons on my beloved chevron ribbon (in Basic Black this time) and I used the Chalkboard technique on the sentiment block (which reads, "At your risks and perils").

The bottom of the paper was cut with one of the Finishing Touches Edgelits and I flipped the leftover paper around and glued it at the top of the striped paper. No waste! A piece of Witches' Brew Designer tape was added at the bottom and decorated with a Basic Black glimmer brad.

Stampin' Up!'s Mixed Bunch - Red Rose

I was immediately taken with this week's Color Throwndown combo. Such gorgeous colours! (And I wish I had that exact outfit! Although I do have a Pool Party faux leather jacket, so I'm thinking I'll need to find a coral shirt to pair it with.) I paired the color combo with the sketch from Create with Connie and Mary and this produced the card I am sharing with you today.

The stamp set I used is called Mixed Bouquet and it has been retired for a long time, but it's my favorite flower set. I've owned a lot of flower sets over the year (mostly because SU! keeps giving some to us at every single event!) but this one remains my personal favorite. I think I like its whimsical look and the fact that it can be use as bold images or can be watercolored. It can also look really elegant or just plain fun depending on what you pair it with.

A couple of details about this card:

• To create the embellishments at the top, I cut the prongs off of polka dot brads and glued them on top of the Sycamore Street buttons from the past SAB promo;
  
• The silver strip was created by embossing En français with Silver powder on Brushed Silver cardstock. Looks very neat! The coral striped borders were made with Calypso Coral Chevron ribbon adhered on both sides of the silver cardstock;
  
• The flower was stamped in VersaMark on watercolor paper and embossed with silver embossing powder. Then, I colored some highlights with a Calypso Coral marker and used an Aquapainter brush to spread the ink around;
  
  
• To get the two-toned embossed background, I inked one side of my embossing folder with Pool Party ink before running it though the Big Shot. Here's a tip: Use a brayer to ink the folder. It's much easier than using the ink pad directly and creates a more even look.

Stampin' Up!'s Cycle Celebration

Today's card was a fun design put together quickly based on the sketch from Just Add Ink (#187) and the fun, vibrant color combo from ColourQ (#211). I used grid paper to stamp my row of candles and space them properly. By using the grid paper, I was able to stamp one colour at a time and leave the right amount of space in between to come back later with the second and third colour of ink. It saved me the trouble of cleaning my stamp every single time and do one colour of ink at a time instead. A little dab of Dazzling Details was added to the flames to make them sparkle.

The sentiment, which comes from the same stamp set (Cycle Celebration) was stamped twice - on Whisper White and on Lucky LImeade cardstock - and embossed with black powder. The oval sentiment was handcut and glued in place with Dimensionals on the white label, which was punched with the Decorative Label. The stripes were colored in with Stampin' Markers.

Sweet Christmas Wishes

This card was inspired by the Sketchbook Saturday sketch challenge (#106). I hadn't seen this challenge blog before, but someone shared a card they had done with the sketch on their blog and that is how I stumbled unto it. I added it to my list of challenge watch. (When I have time to stamp, I put together a Word document of the weekly challenges offered and print a copy that I keep on my work table. It is often a jump off point when I start creating new projects.)

 

 

Stampin' Up!'s Merry Little Christmas Kit

I fell in love with the Merry Little Christmas Simply Created Kit after seeing it up close on the display boards at convention. It's just so pretty! I also figured that I could use it with the intended design or step it up with additional supplies to make it even fancier. The card I am sharing today is a stepped up version of what the kit includes. I hope it inspires you to get your hand on the kit and make it your own.

The stamp set used is - again - my beloved Color Me Christmas stamp set. The image was stamped in Basic Grey and colored with Stampin' Markers. I used the baker's twine and button included in the kit to add a bow on top of the stamped image. Then, to decorate the top of the tag, I picked in my stash and used some red glimmer paper to add a punched scallop circle at the bottom, with a bit of red stitched grosgrain ribbon and a vintage faceted button. Another strip of red glimmer paper was added on top of the Designer paper included in the kit.

The card base was stamped with the fun Chevron background stamp in Coastal Capana ink, and a sentiment from the Oh, Goodie! stamp set was added in Real Red ink.

Something Old, Something New...

This is a quick card that I put together by pairing some Simply Sent cards that I scored in the Clearance Rack with a new stamp set from the Holidays catalogue called Tout le meilleur (Best New Year). The sentiment was inked with Stampin' Markers and stamped on Very Vanilla cardstock. I handcut the bottom to follow the sentiment shape and I added some Baked Brown Sugar frilly ribbon at the bottom. A piece of Polka dot Rich Razzleberry ribbon (retired) was added to the left side of the card and a jumbo pearl was added to one of the medallions and I was done!

Quickest card ever and yet, very pretty. Gotta love those Simply Sent kits!

Let's Be Jolly

Once I was done putting together my 8x8 Christmas album, I had some journaling cards leftover from the project, so I used one of them as the starting point for this card. I was put together SO quickly: the only part that took a little longer was coloring the Christmas tree image, and even that was quick. The tree image come from the Color Me Christmas stamp set. Isn't it adorable! Well, the whole set is. I just love it.

I added a bit of Season of Style Designer tape with matching patterned paper on the back of the card and ta-da!

Season of Style 8x8 Christmas Album

I loved putting together my Christmas album with the use of the Season of Style product suite (offered in the 2013 Holidays catalogue). I litterally finishd a whole album in two evenings. That is hard to do with traditional scrapbooking! What is special about this one is that it comes with divided protectors, so the planning is already done for you, which is what cuts down on time so much. I also made sure to purchase the journaling cards that are included in the suite to make the project even faster.

I am showing you how my pages turned out, hoping it can inspire you to make your own Christmas album with those products. Here are a few pointers that I want to share with you:

• For bumpy elements, I chose to adhere them on top of the protectors rather than try to squeeze them inside the small pockets (for example, the tulle bow, the jingle bell).

• I didn't like seeing the back of the pictures and embellishments, so at the end, I decided to adhere a square of cardstock or patterned paper on the back of each protector. This had the added bonus of making the page sturdier (as they tend to bend along the seam between the pockets).

• I tied a ribbon bow on the front of the striped album to embellish it. I used our beautiful Cherry Cobbler chevron ribbon.

• When I had pictures that were bigger than the pockets, I simply cut them in half and placed them in two pockets (see the bottom picture on page 2 of the album or the Christmas Tree on the last page). Just make sure before cutting your picture that you won't cut a person's face in half if you do that. Stampin' Up!'s Heart a Flutter - Congratulations to the Newlyweds

Today's card was created because I needed a wedding card for someone at the office. I was looking for inspiration, so I turned to my pins on Pinterest and found a beautiful flowery card by Paula Dobson. I drew inspiration from her design and colours, but swapped the stamps and embellishments.

The hearts come from the Hearts a Flutter stamp set. They were embossed in gold powder on a Very Vanilla card base and I added Crumb Cake ink with a sponge. The bottom corners were punched with a Corner Rounder punch. The sentiment (from a retired hostess set called Notes de saison) was stamped in Soft Suede and I added a sparkly heart punched out of Champagne glimmer paper (with the Owl punch). I also stamped a heart over the sentiment and embossed it with clear powder. I like this added touch - subtle but elegant!

A border of Champagne glimmer paper was punched with the Scallop Border punch and I added a piece of Victoria lace trim and some Early Espresso narrow grosgrain on top. Pearls were added to three of the hearts as well.

Waste Not, Want Not

The starting point of this card was leftover pieces of patterned tape from the Real Red Goodie Gear Simply Created Kit. We received this kit at convention and I decided to use the cello bags to make Halloween treat bags at my stamping get-together last week. Those Goodie Gear kits come both in Christmas and Halloween colours, but the one I had on hand was the Christmas one, so what I did was get my Witches' Brew Designer Washi Tape out to decorate the tags, and I simply put the red stripes aside, figuring I'd use them somewhere else.

So... I wanted to make a striped background on my card, so I used grid paper to line the stickers on the white cardstock. Then, I had tons of strips left, so I decided to create a plaid pattern instead, using the grid paper again to line things up. The rest of the design was based on this week's Try Stamping on Tuesday sketch (#139).

The card base and the main banner were made out of Gumball Green Core'dinations cardstock. I embossed the green strip with the one of the Delicate Designs embossing folders, then sanded the pattern to lighten the color. A sentiment from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set was gold-embossed on Real Red Core'dinations cardstock and added to the card.

The main image was stamped with the Keepsake Ornaments   stamp set and die-cut with the matching Framelits. Did you know those two items were still available? Though they don't appear in the annual or seasonal catalogue, they're still available for sale.

To make the ornament stand out, I punched a circle out of the new Gold Foil paper (seasonal catalogue, p. 28). Those sheets have a fantastic sheen and as you can see, they look great embossed! (They don't crack when embossed, which is great!) I used the Stylish Stripes embossing folder, also offered in the Holidays catalogue (p. 22).

Stampin' Up!'s Around the World - Miss You

"Look, Ma, I made a clean and simple card!!"

Things started to settle down this week and I finally have a new freshly stamped card to share with you! This one was inspired by this week's Retro Sketch challenge (#84). While it was tempting to interpret the sketch with washi tape and use the Tape It stamp set, I decided to put some mileage on my uninked Filmstrip stamp instead. I was immediately drawn to this stamp in the new catalogue and got it right away, but never got around to using it until now. I got the idea to pair it with the Autour du monde stamp set and use the images in between the film strips.

The color combo was inspired by a piece of fabric I saw online and since we don't have any curreny blue that matched the color in the inspiration piece, I used the retired Buckaroo Blue color. My favorite part is the Candy Dots in matching colour added to the strips. While the brads we carried before didn't include every single color of the regular line, the candy dots do come in every single color available! Of course, since I was using two In Colors, I had to select something close for those two (Crushed Curry for Summer Starfruit and Soft Suede for Baked Brown Sugar).

Vive le vent d'hiver...

This card was inspired by a card I had seen on Pinterest. The original card had an autumn leaf window opening with orange patterned paper peeking through. I loved the idea - unfortunately, the only leaf die we have is a Bigz die with all of the patterns on the same die, so I needed to use a Framelit die in order to have only one image on my cardstock. I looked at what I had on hand and selected the tree from the Holiday collection. I die-cut the tree, then used the paper piercer to add a border around it. The die-cut piece was glued on a white envelope to make a matching envelope.

Then, I added Lucky Limeade patterned paper on my card base underneath the opening, and I added a band of patterned paper on the cardstock panel as well, on which I stamped my sentiment in Not Quite Navy ink. I added Mini Silver brads in a row next to the sentiment. This is where I kind of made a mistake: I decided at the last minute to add a touch of embossing using the Needlepoint Border embossing folder, but as you can see, running the cardstock through the Big Shot flattened the mini brads. it's not a huge deal, it's a look, but if I was to make the card again, I would add the brads last.
