I am finally back, after an unplanned blogging hiatus! I didn't expect to be this busy when I came back from Leadership and on the rare few occasions when I had free time, I suffered from stamper's block. I have so many new fun items from the Spring catalogue and SAB collection that it feels like I don't know where to begin! I finally managed to put together a quick card and find time to share it with you guys!
The starting point was the Sweet Stop sketch, although once I was done with the card, I saw that the sketch was supposed to include a snowman. Oops! That being said, I am really happy with how it turned out because I think it could work as a masculine card and I never have enough of those. The wonderful papers and die-cut tag all come from the Fan Fare Designer Paper pack, which can be found in the annual catalogue. I thought the vintage look would be a perfect pairing with the Feeling Sentimental SAB stamp set - and then I saw the bicycle paper in the pack. Cha-ching!! Even better.
The die-cut tag comes directly from one of the papers. It was a little long for my card, so I cut the top off and glued it back lower on the tag. That easy! The fun font sentiment comes from the hostess set Wacky Wishes (annual catalogue) and was embossed in Pewter embossing powder to make it stand out. I embossed some cross stitches using the Needlepoint Border embossing folders from the Spring catalogue.
The beautiful Basic Grey two-tone ribbon is also from the Spring catalogue (see it on page 13). I hadn't used it yet and my downline Melanie mentioned how easy it was to work with and how beautifully it tied into bows, so she got me curious and I pulled it out to make sure I would add it on my next project. Turns out the two roll of ribbons from the Spring cattie (pink and grey) both match the colours in the Fan Fare papers! Something to keep in mind if you plan to buy them... ;)
To make the bike image more interesting, I inked it with Island Indigo first, then I used the Thumping technique to add grey on the image with a marker. (This would be a wonderful technique for me to show you at a workshop during SAB... Hint, hint!!) It gave wonderful dimension to the image and makes it pop out more. I then handcut the bike and popped it up on the tag using Stampin' Dimensionals.
