I went all out with the new minicatalogue supplies on this one. New stamps, new papers, new fabrics, new velvet ribbon, new sentiment set, new embossing powder... Surely, there'll be something in there to get you excited about the upcoming mini! I think the best part is that most of this stuff I got in a free bundle thanks to the new career plan SU! launched in July. One more reason to be excited about being a demonstrator!
The stamp set I used is called Gently Falling and it is a two-step stamping set, meaning that you get a "filler" and an outline stamp that matches. The papers and fabrics are from the Spice Cake collection and their colour combo is gorgeous! Don't let the fact that those are shown in a fall setting distract you - if you look closely at the patterns, you'll see they are more of boho style that can be used all year long and perfect for all kinds of projects, including masculine ones.
I used the fabric to create a pleated look around the oval image. I simply used sticky strip on the back of the oval and gathered the fabric on the back, creating pleats. I had done this with cardstock before, but it even easier with fabric and it creates a beautiful, soft look.
The oval medallion was stamped with some leaves from the set and die-cut with the Ovals die, then I used the oval Designer Frame embossing folder in the center. For the handcut leaves, I stamped the first image in color and the overlapping image in Versamark and then embossed it with Pewter powder.
The sentiment panel was stamped with the Wonderfully Worn background stamp (a great stamp to add texture) and then I embossed a sentiment from the Hand-Penned Holidays. Note that the French sentiment reads, "Kisses," but the English version is a little different. It actually says, "Happy Halloween." The French "Merci bien" is actually "Give thanks" in English. The other two sentiment are direct translations, though. Just FYI...
I added a linen thread bow to the sentiment panel and rolled up the end using the end of a paintbrush. Then, I added some vanialle velvet ribbon (gorgeous stuff), two pearls at the top and a little bit of piercing on the Pool Party panel and was done.
