Do you guys have that expression in English? In French, we often say some one is "fier comme un paon" and that's what I had in mind when I made this congratulations card. The design originated from a request from a coworker, who wanted two congratulations cards for her niece and nephew, who both graduated from high school and university. This is the one for her niece.
One of the new In Colors I was most excited about was Island Indigo, which is the perfect peacock blue I have been requesting for years. Couldn't be better timing that the colour came out at the same time as the Proud Peacock set, a set I happened to win at the Montreal Regionals and which is featured in the current summer minicatalogue. I stamped the peacock in Island Indigo and used the fine tips of my markers to color the feathers. I added "eyes" to the center of the features and added a dab of glitter on them.
The fancy sentiment comes from the Swirls & Curls Verses, one of the hostess sets from the Summer mini. Since my markers were out on the table, I got the idea to emboss the sentiment in silver and color the centers of the letters. If you look closely, I colored the "l" in green and added an indigo eye to match the feathers. I added the decorative row from the same set in Lucky Limeade ink underneath the sentiment and two glimmer brads (Olive and Concord Crush) on the right side. I then used Wisteria Wonder and Concord Crush cardstock to mat the image, using the Eyelet Border punch at the bottom.
I cut a piece of Lucky Limeade cardstock to size and then stamped the stem from the stamp set at the bottom, using my marker to color the top of the stem. I then cut the cardstock in half and ran the top half through the Big Shot using the Tulip Frame embossing folder. I swear, the design on that folder looks just like the little designs on the peacock feathers and on the decorative border stamp. Gotta love when things unexpectedly match like that! I added rhinestones and glitter to the design to make it stand out and pieced everything back together on the card. Finally, I added one of the little birdies amongst the stems at the bottom of the card.
