Third card I created while stamping with Angie on Sunday (see hers HERE). The inspiration behind this one was the Friday Mashup #15, which included a sketch and a color combo. Of all four challenges we did, this was the one that gave me the most grief. It was the sketch part I struggled with. I was mostly having trouble balancing the left side with the right. I think I finally managed to create something that I like.
I used the new set Forever Young, which is just gorgeous. I have a thing for silhouette images, so I spotted this one on my first tour of the catalogue and it went straight to my "First order" list. Another new item I was super excited about are the Designer Frames embossing folders, one of which I used here to create the sentiment frame. I embossed a piece of White cardstock and handcut around it before adding patterned paper (from the Brights paper pack) in the center and stamping my sentiment (from the retired Congratulations SAB set). Even though I used dark Early Espresso ink, the sentiment was hard to read so I inked the sentiment and stamped it a second time, using my Stamp-a-Ma-Jig to line things up.
On the Riding Hood Red cardstock, I stamped the En français background and overstamped the vintage clock, which works great with the idea of the passing years invoked in the sentiment. I added a scallop border created with the Scallop Ribbon punch and I used our new Scallop polka dot ribbon in Old Olive with a bit of Early Espresso baker's twine wrapped around it. I wanted to add a button on the frame but couldn't find any that matched, so I created my own using the Button Button set and clear embossing. Finally, I used a piece of polka dot patterned paper from the Berry Blossoms pack and added two pearls in the upper corner.

Hi Cindy, It's interesting how some struggled with the sketch like you did, and some like me struggled with the colours! I think in the end, that's what challenges are all about, stretching us to work outside our comfort zones.
In this case, the struggle was worth it, you've done a lovely card using the Friday Mashup challenge. Thank you for joining us again.
Cheers,

This turned out so beautifully, one would never guess you struggled! And still achieved success in one hour!! I love how you used the silhouette on the big circle and the framed piece behind it! I still need to ink up this new set!
