Ski Bunny

This is another of the projects I made during my break. I kept the design simple, but played with embellishments, by adding rhinestones to my snowflake patterned paper, pearls to the decorative strip and Stickles to the scallops.

I also played with texture by adding white velvet flock to the bunny, giving him a fuzzy coat.

The stickers I used on the envelope are stickers that have been in my stash pretty much ever since I started scrapbooking and I could never match then to anything, but they are a perfect match to the patterned papers, both in style and colours, so I've been happily putting them to good use.

As you can see, my 2010 resolution ("Let's use that stash!") is still holding true. I have enough stuff to keep that resolution for years to come...

The minute I saw this week's sketch, I knew I would be reaching for patterned papers to do the squares. With the new Sew Suite collection featuring sewing accessories, it just seemed like a good fit to cut my paper with fabric shears to make them look like fabric samples.

One of the Sew Suite element I was really excited about was the In Stitches wheel. I have been dying for SU! to come out with a faux stitching stamp set. All six stitches are mounted on one wheel, but what I did to get more use out of it was cut the rubber off of the wheel (which you can easily do by cutting the wheel seam with a craft knife) and mount the rubber on Easy Mount foam, and then cut the six stitches separately. The stitches are quite long and will not fit straight on any of the blocks, so what I do is mount the stitches on my acrylic block at an angle from corner to corner (see pictures -----> HERE). I guess I could also cut the rubber shorter if I wanted to make life simpler for myself!

The main image was created using on the rub-ons from the Sew Suite collection and coloring the image with my markers. I made sure to leave some white space to mimick the way designers color their sketches. I punched the little girl with the Wide Oval punch, then matted it with the Decorative Label punch and the 1-3/4 Circle punch, around which I glued some pompoms trim. Trust me, you have to buy some for yourself! The pompoms are really small and therefore easy to use and they are cute beyond words!

The Daffodil Delight cardstock was stamped with the Pattern stamp. The sentiment comes from an old hostess set called Haute couture, the first hostess set I earned for myself when I became a demo. It reads, "You are just my style!", which I thought was perfectly fitting for this card. At the bottom of the stamped sentiment (inked with markers to get the two colours), I added a row of rub-ons and added a fabric brad, also from the Sew Suite collection. I then added a couple of pin rub-ons on the patterned paper squares and a Daffodil button on the top block.

Simple and Sweet

I needed to make cards to welcome new recruits to our team and to congratulate the high-achievers for their sales and promotions. I wasn't sure what to make and then I stumbled unto Dawn McVey's blog and found THIS post. Bingo! I was instantly inspired to try out my own Stampin' Up! version of it.

The flowers were cut out of the First Edition designer paper (Occasions Mini) with the Petal Party die and I decorated the middle with a stamped button. To make this accent, I stamped an image from the Button Button set (also from the mini) in Versamark, embossed it in clear powder and punched it out with a circle punch.

The patterned papers all come from the Bright Designer Paper pack and I stamped a sentiment from the Curly Cute set. The scallop trim is a strip of Crumb Cake cardstock punched with the Scallop Edge border punch. I managed to create 20 of those cards in under two hours. Pretty good, huh!

Fée-marraine

J'ai fait cette carte pendant mon congé des Fêtes pour remercier Susy pour son cadeau (l'étampe que j'ai utilisé sur la carte). Je étampé la fée en Versamark et embossé à la poudre or sur du papier aquarelle, puis j'ai utilisé un crayon-estompe trempé dans l'encre pour colorer mon image.

Remarquez les coutures sur mon papier à motifs? Elles ont été ajoutées avec la roue In Stitches vendue dans le minicatalogue Occasions. J'ai monté ma roue sur de la mousse EZ Mount et j'ai découpé chaque couture individuellement afin de pouvoir utiliser les coutures indépendamment les unes des autres (voir photos dans ce message). De même, la petite rose apposée sur le noeud de ruban de taffetas Fruits des bois est aussi l'un des nouveaux accessoires offerts dans le mini (Ornements Fleurs rétro - p. 15).

Le souhait a été écrit à la main avec un marqueur Stampin' Write.

This page was made during my Christmas vacation, but since I was on a computer hiatus, it never got posted until today. I wanted to share it with you mostly because I am excited to share how I have been using my In Stitches wheel. I have been hoping for years that SU! would come out with some stitches stamps and when the wheel came out, I was very excited but knew it would be hard to use as is to add stitching to the side of my papers.

So in order to make the images easier to use, I took the rubber off of the wheel (just cut along the glued seam on the wheel with a hobby blade and the rubber will come right off of the wheel) and mounted it on EZ Mount, then I cut each stitch apart with my rubber scissors. The wheel is quite long so the images will not fit on our acrylic blocks, but you can either a) cut off part of the stitches to make the rubber shorter or b) mount the rubber at an angle on the biggest acrylic block, as shown below.

Springtime Vintage Basket

Here is a peek at a new collection from the Occasions minicatalogue: Springtime Vintage. I used the patterned paper and matching button to create this cute gift basket for my friend Maggie, who was my Leadership roommate.

That basket was very quickly put together, thanks to the fact that everything I need could be found on the Basket & Blooms die: basket, embellishing strip, tag and flowers. The flower on the tag is a flower I cut out directly from the patterned paper. I threaded to button with Early Espresso narrow taffeta ribbon and tied it to the basket.

I placed some Ferrero chocolates inside a cello bag tied with Rose Red seam binding (new colors of seam binding have been added in the new mini!) and placed the bag inside the basket.

Leadership Swap - Hugs & Kisses

I very rarely swap at events because I find the task of reproducing the same card over and over again very daunting. Nonetheless, since I had a week off of work before heading out to Nashville, I did prepare a small stack of swap cards (24) to bring with me.

I used a new Valentine set from the Occasions mini called Love by Definition. I thought it was such a cute set and I hadn't purchased a Valentine set for quite a while, so I was psyched to see it had been translated to French.

Another element from the mini featured on my card is the First Edition designer paper. Isn't it cool? You get this big pack of dictionary paper, which is totally in right now, and will match any project you make, so it's a good staple to have on hand. I've been using it quite a bit on my projects lately, so get prepared to see it pop up often.

Oh, and see that sparkly heart above the flamingos? It was punched out of our new Glimmer paper, also sold in the Occasions mini. I love it even more than I expected! You get the look of glitter without the annoying glitter stuck to your face, clothes and everywhere else. L-O-V-E it!

So I cheated a little bit and added So Saffron to the color combo. This addition was dictated by the fact that I wanted to use the Love Birds Simply Scrappin' kit to make my challenge card. Have you seen this kit up close? It is SO adorable! I am particularly in love with the Blushing Bride houndstooth patterned paper.

This card was a quick design since all of the pieces I needed could be found in the kit. The sentiment reads, "You + Me = Cloud Nine". To jazz up the sticky die-cuts, I added Crystal Effects to the "U"  and Dazzling Diamonds glitter to the cloud.

At the bottom, I added three coloured brads, making sure to line them with the matching colored stripes underneath, and I finished the card with a ribbon bow made out of Pear Pizzazz ribbon (love the texture of the In Colours ribbon this year, kiind of like fancy twill!) and I tied a Blushing Bride button (from the Holidays Mini Big Designer buttons collection) in the middle. Inkspirations #52 - Happy Birthday, Little Monster!

  

 
 
  
 
The design for this one came to me as I was putting away some scrapbooking papers. As I looked at the matching die-cuts, I noticed that I could use the big scallop note and small squares to mirror the sketch, and use one of the chipboard monsters as my main image. This might be one of the quickest card I have put together - no fidgeting, it all worked out exactly as I had envisioned. Gotta love it!

The only "intricate" detail I added is the hand stitching around the orange block with purple floss, for added texture. I stamped the "happy birthday" sentiment, stapled the pumpkin rickrack in place and voilà - all done!

Inkspirations #52 - Party in a Teacup

 

 

Happy New Year, everyone!!! I hope you had a fantastic Holidays break and that 2011 brings joy and happiness to your whole family.

You'd think that since I am still on vacation that I would have lots of time to stamp and blog, but not so much! I feel like I am running after time! I am leaving for Leadership in three days and I still have quite a few things to take care of on my list before I leave. Including putting this post up!

So we are back with the weekly challenges and you will love the color combo this week - it is SO pretty! I used to love pairing Apricot Appeal with Baja Breeze back when SU! came out with Baja, so the Baja/Peach combo kind of reminds me of it.

No patterned papers on this one for a change. I created my own designs with stamps instead, using Dot Dot Dot, Stripes and the Teahouse background, which looks great paired with the teacup image.

This is a very simply design, but I like the result. I had to warm up because my stamping mojo has been taking a vacation as well. Not that I haven't been stamping, but I've been preparing swaps and some commissioned scrapbook pages, so it took me a while to get started on this card.
