Hello, everyone!
I am back home, alive and kicking, and even though I have survived convention, I haven't had time to blog about any of it just yet. Don't worry, I will - I just need to catch up on sleep and organize my pictures before I can do so. I had a little unplanned delay on my way back, which I will tell you all about later, but it also explains why my schedule has been completely out of whack.
I did make my weekly challenge project in time to share, though, and since my minicatalogue pre-order came in just as I was getting ready to stamp, you will get a little glimpse into what is coming in the next minicatalogue (available starting September 1st).
This is the inspiration piece Makeesha shared with us this week. Of all the inspiration challenges so far, this is probably the one that threw me the most. There is not a lot of colours, not a lot of detailing. It is very streamlined and modern - which are not adjectives that best describe my usual work. Upon further inspection, though, I did notice that the brown in the background is very close to the new Soft Suede and that there is a bit of colours in the kitchenware - very Soft Sky-looking, which is one of my fave. So... I paired Whisper White, Soft Suede, Soft Sky and Baja Breeze together, put them together with the new Christmas Cocoa Specialty papers (some pages are flocked, the one I used it shimmery) and the Serene Snowflakes and Holiday Best stamp sets, and here is what came out:
Among the new supplies coming in the FABULOUS next mini is some shimmery paint, which I bought in Champagne to try it out. I can tell you it really appeals to the glitter lover in me! It is slightly translucent and it shimmers beautifully. On this card, I used a stipple brush to apply some paint on the rubber and stamp the snowflake on Baja Breeze cardstock. I kept a wipe on hand to clean the stamp before the paint could dry on it and it worked like a charm.
As always, I invite you to visit my fellow DT members' blogs to see their creations, but before you do, I would like to give a toot to Renée this week, as it was announced at Convention that she was one of the Artisan Award finalists! It looks like we're not the only ones in awe of her creations, but SU! as well! Congrats, Renée, and best of luck for next year!!
