SIP Box / Boîte EEP

What is SIP? It's Stamp-Ink-Paper – going back to basics. It is Shelli's creative challenge on her blog this month.

I will admit I was a little taken aback and unsure what to make out of it at first, but then I had been meaning to try and transform the Bag with Scallops die into a different kind of box for a while and when my new Extreme Elements set came in, those two ideas came together with the challenge and here is what came out of it:

 

Que veut dire EEP? Étampes-Encre-Papier. C'est un retour aux sources, et le défi créatif que propose Shelli Gardner sur son blogue ce mois-ci.

Je n'étais pas certaine par quel bout commencer pour ce défi, mais quand mon nouveau jeu Extreme Elements est arrivé, cela m'a inspiré à créer mes propres motifs d'arrière-fond. Ça faisait un petit bout que je songeais à explorer les possibilités avec la découpe Sac à festons pour la transformer en boîte, alors en mélangeant toutes ces idées, voici le résultat auquel je suis parvenue :

 

 

 

 

I started by stamping on BOTH sides of the cardstock before assembling the box. This way, even the inside of the box is pretty! What I did was stamp the Fleur de lys repeatedly to create a pattern. Then, I put the bag together the way I normally would, but I didn't fold the sides in and I folded the scallop top back out instead of over to the other side. I wanted a scallop circle on both sides, so I ran another piece of cardstock in the die again, kept only the scallop tab with the first part of the box, cut a very thin strip of cardstock on each side to make it narrower, stamped it and glued it inside the box.

I cut two additional scallop circle out of Rich Razzleberry textured cardstock and added those on top of the original tabs so that they would stand out more. I usually love the use brads, but I couldn't add embellishments, so I created my own with a handheld punch. I also used the Circle Tab punch to create hinges on one side of the box. To finish the look, I stamped on some white tissue paper and stuffed it in the box.

Pretty cool, right? I am already totally in love with that set. It is hip, fun, and versatile, and it is going to be a fab set to create backgrounds and most of all, to scrapbook with! Pour débuter, j'ai étampé les DEUX côtés de mon papier cartonné avant d'assembler la boîte. De cette façon, même l'intérieur est décoré. Pour ce faire, j'ai étampé la fleur de lys à répétition afin de créer un motif. J'ai ensuite assemblé le tout de la même manière que je collerais habituellement le sac, mais j'ai éviter de plier les côtés afin qu'ils demeurent droit et au lieu de rabattre le cercle festonné par-dessus le haut du sac, je l'ai plutôt collé vers le bas. Je voulais avoir un rabat festonné des deux côtés, alors j'ai passé un autre morceau de papier cartonné Kraft dans la Big Shot et j'ai conservé seulement la première partie avec le rabat festonné. J'ai enlevé une mince lisière de papier cartonné des deux côtés de mon morceau, je l'ai étampé et je l'ai glissé à l'intérieur de la boîte pour le coller en place, et j'ai rabattu le cercle festonné à l'extérieur de la boîte.

J'ai découpé deux rabats festonnés additionnels dans du papier cartonné texturé Fruits des bois et je les ai collés par-dessus les rabats originaux afin de les faire ressortir. J'ajoute habituellement des attaches parisiennes à la grande majorité de mes projets, mais comme le défi excluait les accessoires, j'ai plutôt utilisé un poinçon à main pour créer de petits cercles de papier cartonné, que j'ai collé en place sur mes festons avec le crayon de colle. J'ai aussi utilisé le poinçon Onglet pour créer des charnières sur les côtés de ma boîte. Finalement, j'ai étampé les mêmes motifs dans des couleurs assorties sur du papier de soie, que j'ai placé dans la boîte pour finir le tout.

Quand même assez cool, n'est-ce pas? Je suis déjà en amour avec ce nouveau jeu. Je le trouve branché, amusant et polyvalent, et je sais qu'il me servira souvent pour créer des arrières-fonds à mes cartes et mes pages d'album! Hi Cindy, Returning your visit. Thanks for stopping into my blog today. Love how your box came out. I've been making boxes this style with the Bag W/Scallops for awhile and I always cut off the scallop. I never even thought about adding another scallop and making it even!
