Un des défis de samedi était de faire un cadre mettant en vedette quelqu'un d'important dans notre vie. J'ai tout de suite pensé à un portrait de mes amies d'université et moi qui a été prise au mariage de notre amie Annick il y a maintenant trois ans de cela. Le mariage avait lieu en septembre, et la décoration avait été faite en fonction du thème de l'automne, thème que j'ai donc repris pour mon cadre.
One of Saturday's challenges was to frame a picture of someone important in our life. I immediately thought of this neat picture of my friends from university and I at Annick's wedding. Since the wedding was in September and the decoration was around the theme of fall, I kept with the theme in my own frame.
Les papiers proviennent de l'ensemble Frosty Day du minicatalogue, mais comme je l'avais déjà mentionné, ils peuvent être utilisés pour autre chose que des projets d'hiver, en sélectionnant certains des papiers aux motifs et couleurs plus automnales.
The papers are taken from the Frosty Day pack (from the minicatalogue). As I said before, you can definitely use those papers for more than winter projects by selecting certain papers of the bunch.
Les feuilles ont été découpées à la Big Shot, avec la découpe Leaves #2. Un des avantages de la Big Shot qui m'avait immédiatement plu est le fait de pouvoir faire des découpes de carton gris (chipboard) avec les plus grosses découpes. C'est ce que j'ai fait ici pour la feuille d'automne que j'ai utilisé pour décorer le coin du cadre, afin de la solidifer. J'ai tout simplement découp;é la feuille deux fois, une fois dans du carton gris et une fois dans mon papier à motif et j'ai recouvert le carton gris avec le papier à motif. Même pas de sablage requis. Merveilleux, non? Puis, quelques rainures ont été ajoutées au crayon afin de donner un peu de dimension à la feuille.
The leaves were cut with the Big Shot, with the Leaves #2 die. One of the first thing that sold me on the Big Shot was that you could cut your own chipboard pieces with the dies. This is exactly what I did here for the leaf in the lower corner of the frame. I wanted to make it sturdy since it is sitting outside of the frame, so I cut the leaf in chipboard, and then in patterned paper and cut the patterned paper on the chipboard. No sanded required! I then added a few lines with a pen to give shape to the leaf.
Le cadre en bois a été acheté au Dollorama et était en bois naturel quand je l'ai acheté. Afin de le teindre, j'ai sorti ma peinture acrylique brune et, question de rendre la couleur plus intéressante, du Pearl Ex cuivre. Dans un contenant vide, j'ai versé de la peinture, ajouté une bonne quantité de Pearl Ex et mélangé le tout. Comme je voulais créer un effet similaire à de la teinture, j'ai ajouté un petit peu d'eau au mélange pour le diluer légèrement. Considérant que c'était une première tentative, je trouve l'effet très réussi. Dans la photo qui suit, vous pouvez voir l'effet brillant du pigment Pearl Ex dans la peinture.
I found the wooden frame at the Dollar Store. It was not dyed or painted when I bought it, so in order to dye it, I took out some brown acrylic paint and Copper Pearl Ex. I mixed the two together and then I thinned the mixture with some water so that the grain of the wood would show underneath the paint and so that I could create a look that was closer to stain than paint. The copper pigments add a really neat effect that you can sort of see in my last picture. Not too bad for a first try!
Sur la vitre du cadre, j'ai ajouté une décalque qui provient de l'ensemble qui était offert en février dernier pendant Sell-a-Bration. Comme la décalque n'est pas directement sur le projet, cela crée un effet de profondeur et ajoute de la dimension à mon cadre.
I added a rub-on directly on the glass. It gives more dimension to the project than it would have if I had put the rub-on directly on the picture. And rub-ons are great for that very reason: you can use them pretty much on anything!
