This card was inspired by the CASE the Designer challenge. I liked how the sample showcased had a white dry-embossed background, so that became the starting point of my design. I didn't want to use a folder with a full repeating design, but try to find something that was not full, like in the original design. My choices were limited in my current folders, but I did notice Softly Falling and figured I could work with it. As I was going through stamps, I noticed the umbrella girl in the Beautiful You stamp set and an idea was quickly born.
I stamped the lady in Tuxedo Black Memento ink and colored her with Stampin' Blends markers. I stamped the umbrella on a scrap of paper, colored it and handcut it, to be later popped up on mini Stampin' Dimensionals. I stamped a sentiment from the set ("Life may not be the party you were expecting, but while we're here we might as well dance.") and then I embossed my pattern.
My original idea was to use the fine-tip glue to add glitter to the rain, but my glimmer paint caught my eye on my desk and I decided to apply White Frost glimmer paint to the raised details with a sponge dauber instead. If I was to make the card again, I'd probably try something else or maybe apply the paint differently. I ended up with a result that's a little too blotchy to my liking, but hey, let's call those clouds for the time being.
