I had been so focused on Holiday cards this fall, I hadn't scrapbooked in a while and I decided to get back to it to make sure and reach the goal I had set myself to make at least a layout a week (or to reach 52 layouts by the end of the year). This one makes 50, so I'm only two layouts away from reaching my goal.
This page is a 8" x 8" layout and the design was inspired by a Page Maps layout from the March 2016 sketches. I used the lovely Mistletoe Kisses line from Simple Stories, which is technically a Christmas line but by picking only certain patterns, I was able to keep it neutral, and I felt like the candy colors were great for a girls' night picture. By doing a traditional layout, I was also able to use a matching flair, which I suspect would have been too thick to add to a pocket protector layout.
The sketch called for a pocket, and I remembered I had the second half of a vellum pocket lying on my desk (I had cut it in half to make my Santa holding a gift certificate card). I made the tag using a 3" x 4" die-cut from the same paper collection and the vellum pocket was too wide, so I cut it to the size I needed and glued the side shut using washi tape (on both sides, to even things out). Washi tape was also used at the top of the tag.
To add the date at the bottom, I used the Project Life Date It stamp set.I was unsure whether or not to get it since I already had another previous PL stamp set for dates, but I'm so glad I did. The size is easy to squeeze on all layout sizes and the two fonts used are just lovely (a script one and a typewriter one). A worthy purchase, for sure.
