The Home Sweet Home inspired me to pull out the Sweet Home stamp set. I've already used it on a few projects, but mostly to make 3D houses with the matching dies or to embellish other cards. I wanted to use the house stamp as a flat image, so it was the starting point of the card. The Candycane Lane Designer Series Paper was a good fit for a winter house, and the dotted paper made a nice snowy background. Those papers were also a good choice since they come with matching twine, and I was also able to use the jute ribbon I scored at the OnStage event in Ottawa last week. Finally, the grid was calling for pearls or gemstones, and I decided to use a pearl for the doorknob and then to add a few as falling snow. I love that last detail, which makes the background come to life with a bit of dimension.
The house, while simple, took a little while to put together because there's quite a few details in there, but I love the result. I used the stripes from the set to create "planks" on the house (stamped tone on tone in Crumb Cake over the house base stamped in the same colour, on white cardstock). The stripes were stamped in white and I had to cut the top at an angle to work with the roof, which I had stamped in Early Espresso.
The red door was stamped separately and glued over the house, and I also stamped the window separately, and die-cut it with the Home Sweet Home Thinlits. I used the negative space in my cardstock after die-cutting the window as a template to trace a window on vellum cardstock, which I handcut and glued underneath the window frame. I then used precision glue to add frost in the window corners and pourred Dazzling Diamonds glitter on it. Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper was used to create the snow around the door frame, using the Thinlits dies again. A banner was die-cut and popped up with Dimensionals (sentiment reads, "so nice to be home"), and little candies were added at the bottom, with Dimensionals as well.
The Early Espresso was embossed with the awesome Cable Knit Embossing Folder (have you bought yours? this one is a must-have!). A mini jingle bell was hung from the baker's twine using the red twine from the Candycane Lane baker's twine set.
