I've had this penguin stamp for a long time but it had not seen ink yet. I finally found the inspiration I needed to use him when I pulled out my Holidays papers and found the Christmas Lane Simply Scrappin' kit in the bunch. A few challenges were paired to make this card: Merry Monday #207 (Santa sack or bag), Mojo Monday #462 and Cat's Pajamas #321 (paper piecing).
I paper pieces the sack and the penguin. I used the Pinking Edge Square Die-namics to cut out my image and the size I liked best was a little too narrow to fit the whole image. That's where doing the paper piecing came in handy, because the sack was the part of the image hanging out and since I was paper piecing it. I simple stamped the whole bag, cut it out and added it to my already die-cut image. Having it come off the side of the image adds a nice little touch to it.
The stamp set includes some fun sentiments (including "The diet starts tomorrow") but I wanted something in French, so I looked at my stamps and in Greetings from Santa (coming in the new 2016 Holidays catalogue), I found "Naughty or Nice" which was perfect for my Santa penguin. I embossed the sentiment in Early Espresso powder on Old Olive cardstock.
