In all of the years I have been doing paper crafts, I've never tried decoupage / paper tole. But my local store had decoupage kits that caught my eye because the images were gorgeous AND foiled! If you're following my blog, you've probably noticed I have a thing for everything that sparkles. I picked two designs, and I gave the first one a try today. This one includes a jolly Santa and snowman. So I assembled the Santa image and then picked a sketch that could work well with him to add to a card. The August Reverse Confetti sketch was just perfect.
Then, I looked for patterned papers to go with my image and here's the kicker: I had also found at the store the Christmas Delivery 6" x 6" paper stack from Echo Park - and it happens to fit the colours of the Santa and snowman perfectly. The red and green are a perfect match, and the grey goes with the silver. One of the pages even had wooden planks at an angle - which worked perfectly for the angled corner from the sketch. Serendipity at work again. :)
The kit included a few extra die-cuts, so I used the one with the bird to add my sentiment. I picked "Greetings from the North Pole" from the Greetings from Santa stamp set (2016 Holidays catalogue), stamped in Garden Green.
The top corner of the green paper was punched with the Curvy Corner Trio Punch and I paper pieced the holes by gluing them with the backside showing up for a fun detail. I used a snowflake border punch to create a white border, and used the punched snowflakes as ornements on the card, topped with pearls.
