I managed to snatch the dies that go with the Fairy Friends stamp set, so when I saw the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge to create a scene and the Simon Says Stamp Work It Wednesday challenge to use wafer-thin dies, I knew it would go faster now that I had the matching dies. I pulled out some paper scraps from Echo Park in colourful colors and paired them with the Just Add Ink sketch #320. The Paper Players challenge #304 was watercolor and lately, I had been meaning to get my old Staedler watercolor pencils out to give them a try again. I've had those forever - I think they even pre-date my scrapbooking days and they were a set of 10 watercolor pencils I had gotten back when I was a student to play around with. The initial kit I had only included 10 colours and I had bought about five or six extra colors at an art store where they sold them individually. In order to match colors, I have to mix colors together to make it work. I stamped on regular Whisper White cardstock and colored with an Aquapainter brush and it went pretty well.
The sentiment banner was created using the Birthday Banners stamp set (annual catalogue, p. 15). I thought the "Make a wish" sentiment looked cute paired with the fairy. I added a few It's My Birthday enamel dots around it.
