One of my coworker asked for a special oversized card for his mother's 80th birthday. He basically gave me carte blanche and said that he didn't care if the card cost him $25, he wanted something extra nice. I'll admit at first, I was a little intimidated because when someone is willing to be spending the big bucks, you want to present them with something that's unique and up your game. So I waited a little bit and finally decided to bite the bullet yesterday. Once I settled on a stamp set (Inspired by Nature) and papers, the ideas immediately started flowing. Boy, do I wish I could always throw money consideration out the window when creating! It's so liberating...
I used the Double Emboss Resist technique I have shown you on my Inkspirations challenge sample last week. I really like how the Smooch adds both shine and definition to the flowers. Everything was inked with Crumb Cake ink (which creates a softer inked look than brown ink would) and torn to create a shabby chic look and I used one of the satin ribbon rosettes from the minicatalogue. The sentiment was embossed with copper powder (which we use to have in the catalogue and I still miss dearly) and comes from the Something to Celebrate hostess set from the mini.
Since it's a collective card and many people will sign it, I added a flip portion inside the card so people would have more room to write their messages. The card is a little bigger than usual (4½ x 6-1/4) and I've made the matching envelope using a sheet of patterned paper and the now-retired envelope templates SU! used to carry.
