I was trying to think of what I could do to fill the big space on the sketch when I thought about possibly using some sticky cuts. Maybe with the new Sweet Scoops set? Oooh, I know - how about pairing the word Sweet with one of those ice cream cones? Perfect! The rest of the card came together pretty quickly. The color combo was inspired by a striped paper I found in the Sweet Pea paper pad.
Another trick I wanted to try was mixing some Classic reinker with a Whisper White Craft reinker to make a custom color. Carrie Cudney had shown that trick up on stage in Phoenix and I thought it was an interesting idea. The result is different from the colour you would get if you used the Craft reinker of the same color (Pretty in Pink, in this instance). The colors are softer, creamier, sort of like a sorbet shade. Which, incidentally, is perfect with the Sweet Scoops set! I applied the mixture on my stamp with a paintbrush, but you could also use a dauber. The mixture was pretty thick, so when I stamped, it produced a result similar to paint - it even creates a thicker outline around the stamp, which I like because it gives dimension to my ice cream cone. Since we're using Craft ink in the mix, it does dry slowly enough to add embossing powder to the image if you want to (Iridescent Ice used here).
The stamp set sentiment reads, "Have a sweet celebration!" so I inked the last part of the sentiment with a marker and made a banner to complete my sentiment on the card.
