I am so glad that the Inkspirations challenges are back this week! I thoroughly enjoyed the time off of work and schedules during the Holidays, but now that I am back from Leadership, I am pumped and ready to do some serious stamping! I had so many ideas going around in my head, it was total chaos and I didn't know where to start. So I pulled out one of my new sets that was already mounted (Vintage Vogue, which I received at Regionals) and decided to draw inspiration from Shelli's presentation about vintage-looking projects. I don't know why I don't try this style more often: I do find it really fun, pretty much fool-proof since you can hide any kind of boo-boo and I do like the end result. I took out my notebook and included pretty much every "vintage" element Shelli had mentioned on my creation:
- Sponging
- Speckling
- Tearing
- Crumpling
- Lace (well, punched cardstock lace, that is)
- Satin
- Gathered ribbon
- Dictionary page (created with the A to Z stamp)
If you are wondering how to gather ribbon, simply fringe one end of your satin ribbon, isolate a fiber and pull gently on it, while pushing back the ribbon. This will create the gathered look and you won't even need some additional floss or needle!
I really like how it turned out! And I like Keesh's choice of colours this week, too! I think they have a soft quality that works well with the vintage look.

J'ai apprécié le congé des horaires et délais pendant les Fêtes, mais maintenant que je suis de retour du Leadership, je suis prête à me remettre à mes étampes! J'avais des millions d'idées en tête quand je me suis attablée pour étamper et je ne savais pas trop par où commencer, alors j'ai saisi un de mes nouveaux jeux qui était déjà monté (Vague vintage, reçu au Régional) et je me suis laissée inspirer par la présentation de Shelli Gardner au sujet des projets à l'allure antique. J'ai sorti mon calepin de notes et j'ai incorporé une bonne partie des éléments mentionnés par Shelli lors de sa présentation. Je ne sais pas pourquoi je n'utilise pas ce style plus souvent : c'est joli et élégant, à l'épreuve des gaffes grâce aux déchirures et à l'encrage et j'aime bien ce qui en résulte.
Voici quelques-uns des éléments à utiliser pour donner un style antique à votre création :
- Encrage à l'éponge
- Mouchetage
- Déchirure
- Froissement
- Dentelle (dentelle de carton dans l'exemple qui nous occupe)
- Satin
- Ruban froncé
- Page de dictionnaire (créée avec l'étampe A to Z)
Si vous vous demandez comment faire froncer votre ruban, le principe est très simple : effilochez le bout de votre ruban de satin, isolez un fil et tirez gentiment le ruban le long de ce fil. Cela vous permettra de froncer le ruban sans devoir sortir fil et aiguille.
Je suis ravie du résultat. Et j'aime beaucoup le choix de couleurs de Makeesha cette semaine. Je crois que le safran et le corail reflètent bien le style vieillot de la carte.

Your card is simply stunning Cindy! I would love to create a card or project in the vintage style, but I feel I would get it wrong! LOL! Oh well! I plan to give it a go this week!

Ta carte est vraiment très très belle ! Ce jeu d'estampe est sans aucun doute mon préféré dans le mini, et dire que j'ai passé proche de ne pas le commander ! Il est génial ! Et tu lui fait honneur avec ta carte, parce qu'elle est superbe !
