I had to think about these colours for a while this week. Not that I don't like them - I love Earth Elements! I was just so engrossed in Christmas projects, I had step out of that zone for a minute. I thought about doing snowflakes or a vintage Christmas scene in those colours until I had a flash of something else and decided to roll with it.
I decided I would pull out Cowboy Kid and created a saloon scene. There was a quite a bit of fiddling involved because I knew I wanted the swinging doors and didn't really have a plan further than that, but I am happy to say that it finally worked out to my liking - and to yours as well, I hope!
Details to point out:
- The doors were created with the Curly Label shape. To make the "inside" of the doors, I inked stripes of cardstock and glued them making sure they overlapped before punching the shape out.
- Everything was inked with daubers or sponges.
- The cactus and horseshoes were embossed with copper powder. (I miss our copper embellishments!)
- The sign over the door was created with a shape from the retired Canvas Cuts kit. I added two punched stars and some linen thread on top of it, before adding a sentiment from the On Your Birthday set punched with the Word Window punch on top.
- The sides of the saloon entrance were made with stripes of Chocolate Chip cardstock stamped with the Woodgrain background.
